Help. Rewiring HU
So, i decided to put my bluetooth unit in a different area other then behind the radio (can hear it rattling). I notices some of the wires weren't connect. (dad did most of it but im not blaming him) so i did research and redid some of the wires. But now im stomped. I have 2 black wires and a white/green wire.

Now from what i read about the black wires... one is for the antenna and one is for Left Rear Speaker (+) and the other is the Radio Antenna Trigger. Problem is which one.... is to which one. The only difference between is one of the black wires has 2 grey markings closer to one another.
As for the white/green wire, no clue other than it might be the mute wire.
If I can get some help, i will be thankful.
btw... the head unit is a Kenwood KDC-MP435U

Black wire that's on the white plug is the +left rear speaker wire. Toyota always puts the +/- wires together on the same plug for their speakers
Hmmm...White/Green wire...did you used to have the factory sub (maybe its the amp turn-on wire?). Check voltage when you turn the radio on/off.
Did the factory Toyota harness fit into the Kenwood radio?!

oh no. im sorry. i should have explain. the picture shown is the factory HU. I have bought the Kenwood last year and decided to rewire. I looked in the tech to see what color meant what. But some of the wires were part of the xB radio. As you can see, we dont have a black/red wire... but its possible that the white/green could be that. Any body have an official diagram?
White Connector:
Red (pin 1) = Positive wire for Rear Right Speaker
Black (pin 2) = Positive wire for Rear Left Speaker
White (pin 3) = Negative wire for Rear Right Speaker
EMPTY (pin 4) = EMPTY
White/Green (pin 5) = *Not listed on my schematic, possibly part of satellite harness for factory sub option (Bazooka)*
Yellow (pin 6) = Negative wire for Rear Left Speaker
Blue Connector:
L. Green (pin 1) = Positive wire for Front Right Speaker set
Pink (pin 2) = Positive wire for Front Left Speaker set
Gray (pin 3) = 12V ACC
L. Blue/Yellow (pin 4) = 12V Constant
L. Blue (pin 5) = Negative wire for Front Right Speaker set
Purple (pin 6) = Negative wire for Front Left Speaker set
White/Black (pin 7) = Ground
Black or Black/Red (pin 8 ) = Ant. Amplifier Trigger (Remote)
EMPTY (pin 9) = EMPTY
The pins on the connectors number from right to left, starting on the top row, with the connector pins facing you, tab facing up, like this:
White Connector:
1 _ _ 2
3 4 5 6
Blue Connector:
1 2_ _ _ 3 4
5 6 7 8 9 10
...hope this helps.

cool, thanks. I helps a lot. I wish i knew what the white/green is.
If it helps even more.... the only two left
A Brown wire label Mute and a Blue/white Label Power Control.

The Blue/White on the Kenwood is your remote wire for any external electronics such as amplifiers or EQs. Hook it to the Black wire (pin 8 )on the Blue factory harness. This will allow the Kenwood to turn your Antenna Amplifier on and off.
Ignore the brown wire. You can use the Att (attenuation) on the Kenwood to mute the radio.
There also may be an Orange/White wire on the Kenwood harness that is labeled as Illum. or Dimmer. You can ignore this one as well. All it does is dim the illumination of the Kenwood when the headlights are turned on. It isn't necessary.

What about the wire labeled Antenna Control/Motor antenna control. (Blue) That shouldnt go to the antenna amp wire? :? And i thought the xA doesnt have that Antenna Amp. (from when i was researching the color wires)
Some radios offer more than one remote wire with various currents. Most label these remote wires some variation of blue, either with a stripe or without.
If your Kenwood labels the Blue wire as pertaining to a factory Antenna Amplifier/Antenna Control, then it is most likely a lower current so as not to damage a factory Antenna equipment. The Blue/White wire (often labeled as Power Cont.) is a bit higher current, which would be more suitable for aftermarket amplifier(s).
The Scion xB does have an antenna amplifier. I am not sure about the xA though. It isn't a big deal either way. You can leave the wire disconnected as a test. If you get poor reception, then try connecting the wire and test again. If there is a change, then most likely, there was a factory antenna amplifier that needed to be powered to boost reception.
Just FYI... these headaches are exactly why I recommend spending the $20 on the Metra or Scosche factory wiring harness connector. It entirely takes the guesswork out of radio swaps and makes returning to factory equipment a breeze.
Metra and Scosche both use standardized color schemes that match most aftermarket HUs. All you have to do is match up the colors, connect the wires, clip the harness(es) in place, plug in the radio, mount, and go!
