Default How to Remove Center Console with Auto Trans?

I want to do the cup holder illumination in my wife's new xB. I did it in my xA, but that was with Manual Trans and all I had to do was unscrew the shift **** and lift the console up over it
(after taking the screw out of the rear cup holder and popping the front tabs loose).

How do you do it with an Auto Trans? Does that trim ring around the base of the shifter just pop off?

Its really easy. Basically look at the single cup holder near the rear of the center console piece. There is a piece of felt in there that you need to take out. Then, take out the screw and then pull up on the side of each of the cup holders up front. Once you have the center console piece disconnected you just maneuver it over the shifter and your done.

Yeah, I know about the screw under the felt in the rear cupholder, and about the two clips up front. I just wasn't sure about the area around the auto shifter. Are you saying it just lifts up....nothing to pop free?

Default yeah.

yeah, once the screw is out and the two clips are released up front, it will lifht right up, you just kinda have to turn the piece to the side after you lift it up to get it over the shifter ****.

Hi Matt,

If you send me your email address, I'll send you a file with the install instructions from Toyota. Or, if you can wait a little while, we're putting it up on our site now. It'll be in the upper right hand corner of the page in just a bit.

Don't forget to disconnect the wire for the shift indicator light.
