Well doing it that way wouuld be the same as how I did it. Basically how I did it was run all the wires under the carpeting, u dont notice it at all. The speaker outputs from the amp are spliced into the factory harness, and the speakers in the door are using the factory wiring. You could just bypass going to the factory harness and run the speaker wire from the speakers directly under the carpet to the amp..

haha thanks for the move. sorry, i'm new to the forum. but yea i was thinking of just running everything under the carpeting and bolting the amp into the ground under the seat. i was wondering, did you guys use a fuse to attach it to the battery?

I have an in-line fuse at the battery and then that goes to a fused distribution block at my amps.

I got a quick question regardi9ng power. I currently have an 8 gauge monster cable power cable running from battery directly to the amp. Would I need to rerun a thicker gauge power cable if I want to add another amp and subs or would that be sufficient to use for power distribute system.

well it depends on how much power the 2 amps would be running at. i have an 4 channel amp, with a sub and an amp and i run 500 watt 4 gauge wires. those 500 watt 4 gauges can run 2 amps no prob. if you wanna get hardcore and run 4 amps, you can get like 1000 watt 4 gauges.

tbone587 12-27-2004 03:39 AM

my current amp is 360w alpine (40w rms each speaker) I wanted to add another 300 watt rms alpine amp for a sub (would an 8gauge wire be good for both of them?)

i think an 8 gauge would probably be fine, but if you want to be on the safer side, you should get a 4 gauge. how many watts does the 8 gauge support?

tbone587 01-01-2005 11:03 PM

I have no idea how many watts it support. tweeter installed it and used like a monster cable amp kit. It really makes me have a lump in my throat thinking at home much money I paid for installation, when I should have been able to do it myself, and now i can
