Default Installing aftermarket XM in my new xB

Hi everyone. I recently traded in my tC for an xB and am planning on replacing the factory HU w/ my old aftermarket Pioneer and connecting a Pioneer GEX-P920XM tuner underneath the passenger seat.

When I did a similar setup in my tC I did a pretty ghetto install with the wiring and I want to make sure I do a better job this time. Does anyone know if I need to run the ground wire back up to the HU, or can I just ground out to the seat bolts?

I've seen the "official" Scion XM installation instructions and would like to avoid disasseembling the front passenger seat if at all possible.

Thanks for any help you can provide!!

Ground it to the metal frame, scrape the paint away from the metal to have a good ground.. I wouldnt use the factory ground wire...Toyota/Scion are not know for the grounds being very good.

Forgive my ignorance, but where would be the easiest place to do that if I were going to set the tuner on the floor under the front passenger seat?

Well to pull the seat its real easy... 5 bolts and it's out and just find a good peice of metal... if you dont want to do that .. you are gonna have to reach under the carpet and pull the ground out from under the carpet and ground it to the metal under the sill plate. As long as you remove the paint down to the bare metal you should get a good ground...

After pulling the seat off, I just scraped the metal where the seat bolts down to and put the ground wire under the seat before tightening it back down. Works like a charm!
