Ipod options for stock head unit.
I just bought an ipod and was wondering if there is an adaptor on the market that works with the stock 2004 Xb head unit? What are my options?
I just bought a adapter at Target called Transpod (bout $80) Plugs in to the lighter. find a blank radio station tune your radio and Transpod to the same station, drop in your Ipod and Voila there you have it, iPod Charging mUsic Playin...so far so good.
Yeah, I've seen these but I'm looking for something that plugs into the accesory port on the back of the unit (where the xm radio or cd changer would go) and allows you to use your head unit to control the ipod. I found one on crutchfield but they said it would only work with aftermarket Pioneer stereos.
one (of many) examples of an aux-in, just up-screen from your post:

if you search This Fine Site for ipod interface and head unit, you'll get a dizzying array of hits, from general aux-ins to specialized ipod connections. one will likely be what you want. people have walked this way before...

we all know the basic plug your ipod to deck thing, but I had another question...
Has anyone ran a photo ipod to their monitor to playback song info/album cover? I think that would be a cool way to run your ipod into your stereo, and with video dropping next week, it would be great to have all that on a car monitor.

I say you should check out the the Harman/Kardon Drive + Play. It's about 200 you get a Box with aux-in and out along with ports for a hardwired FM modulator and a wireless FM mod on top of all that connective you get a controller that functions simlar to the click wheel on the ipod and a display (displays exactly whats on the ipod in the same format as the ipod, not sure about displaying album covers) to mount anywhere you'd like.
In my opinion this is the best connection out there as it gives you all the options you want for connection and preserves the ease of use of the ipod and doesn't force you to use the clumsy controls on the radio itself.
