Default This is killing me

Ok, I really don't know too much about the Scion xB and it's wiring. All I know how to do is hook up wires and I applied this to my xB when I hooked up my Jensen head unit. Now there are problems with it that i can't fix and every answer I get confuses me more. I bought the radio used and the wired had already been spliced, so I couldn't use a harness. I only get a few radio stations with a clear signal, and almost all the major stations do not come in at all. Also only the front speakers work, the back ones deliver not sound. One time when I was driving the radio froze, I couldn't turn it off or anything I had to pull over and restart the car . Also the video does not work even when I hook it up to the ebrake wire. The only thing this radio is good for is my iPod and CD's.

Can anyone offer me any help or advice? I'm about to throw this thing as far as I can and then run over it with my xB, it's outrageous. Is it a malfunctioning unit? I think I can take it to a Best Buy or a Circuit City to look at it and see what I did wrong in the hook up but I don't want to pay hundreds of $'s.

FYI: I don't have the slightest clue why, but when you put on sunglasses and look at the blue screen thats visible when the screen is closed, there is a black smug or spot on the screen.

Sorry for the complaining or sob story

Any help at all will be so grealty appreciated

Sounds like maybe you have a bum radio. BUT, be sure it is wired correctly. you must have the wiring instructions for the unit. Get them online or from Jensen if need be. You need an adapter plug with labeling. Schosche and other make plugs that plug into the factory harness and give you wires to slice your headunit to. Your radio reception problem is almost certainly that you did not supply power from the remote wire (amp on lead ) of the radio to the factory antenna booster through the scion radio plug. Until it is powered your reception will blow.

Could you post pics of the wires coming out of the HU, this would help me understand what we are dealing with. also make sure that everything is connected to the proper wire, here is a good guide that shows what does what... http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/Toyota-Wiring.pdf

On a side note, you might want to just have it professionaly installed. Sometimes it's just not worth the headaches plus if anything goes wrong you'll have a warrenty.
