Looking for a good ground point behind stereo. Anyone know?
I am adding a Sony Mex XB100BT. to my '06xB. The instructions recommend
that it has it's own direct ground to the chasis. I only have about 12 inches of ground wire, and I do not want to splice more length on if I do not have to. Does anyone know if there is an accessible grounding point close to the head unit? Thanks |
There is a spot behind the climate controls that people have used as a grounding point when doing foglights that are independent of the headlights.
Shoot me a PM with your e-mail address and I can get you a document with pictures of where it is...you should be able to reach it with your existing grounding wire. |

There is a metal frame behind the radio that is an excellent ground. Or you can use the black wire in the harness...
Just helped my son do a radio update... which wasn't that simple because the plug in the kit he got didn't fit the car plug properly, so we had to use the generic setup they had in the same kit to get the steering wheel controls working. Also, now that Radio shack has gone, I have found that the True value hardware stores carry a limited but useful range of electrical bits and pieces |
