low fuel light coming on with 1/4 tank left.
About 2 days ago I changed the backlight color of my gauge by following the steps in the tech section.
This morning while driving to work my tank was at 1/4 left but then the low fuel light came on....any ideas? This was typed up on my cell phone....please excuse any crazy formatting....sorry! |
You might just have your needle slightly off from where it should be. Fill up the tank-- if you put around 10 gallons in, then the light works, and your needle needs readjustment.

yeah it sounds like the needle wasn't put back on right

i got the same prob when I put in leds...what's the best way to realign the needle???

Sorry to post a follow-up on your thread... but... Is the fuel light triggered by the needle? I assumed that it was triggered by a sensor in the fuel tank, which would make the needle position irrelevant.
Thanks! Richard |
I believe it is triggerd by a sensor because if you think about it StarSk8er said that the light came on when the needle read at 1/4th tank. So in reality I bet he had an almost empty tank but he bumped the needle when changing his gauge. I would do like was mentioned previously, fill up (which will probably come to 10 gallons), and move your needle to the top notch(full).

I wait till my gas light turns on , then I put the needle just on E. When i change my face, which is way too often!

when is the fuel light supose to go on in relation to the fuel gauge?
mine comes on at 1/8th tank and strangely enough, when i fill up full, my fuel gauge doesn't move off of full for about 90miles... i'm starting to think our gauge is either meant for a 10gallon tank or an 8gallon tank... |

At full I get about 85 to 90 miles to the 3/4 mark, about 175 to 180 to half and around 240 to 250 to 1/4. I was getting better milage until ethanol became so prevelent!!! Now I struggle to get 30 to 31. Walt |
