Default Manual Remote Start

Anybody know of a remote start kit that will bypass both the immobilizer and the clutch?

Well....I'm not sure about where you are located, but I'm pretty sure that remote start on a manual is illegal (In NJ anyway).

I'm not saying it cant be done......but lets just say you leave your car in gear when you park, on a slight hill. You hit the remote start button and BANG!... your car jults forward and hit the car in front of you and then stalls.

If you can find a kit, mroe power to you, but just be careful :D

I had one of my installers says its impossible to do it, because of some parking wire that manuals dont have. I dont believe him, but thats my 2 cents.

Oh it's possible... but not easy, and dangerous if you happen to leave it in gear by accident, once...

I have an auto-start on my 5-speed Subaru Impreza. If you leave it in gear & try to auto-start the car, It will take off and won't stop till it hits something. TRUST ME...I KNOW

HAHA yeah that was me.....I have since grounded the hood safety wire to disable the remote start....

It is actually extremely easy to make the car think that the clutch is depressed and I think you just supply switched power (or ground - not sure) the wire that recieves the signal to make sure the car is in park.....

I have talked to ALOT of people around where I live that have it done.....they have ALL left it in gear at some point in time.....of course it was never on purpose....but since there is no way for the remote start system to detect if the car is in gear...i now do not recommend it.....unless you like buying parts to fix your car.....(by the way its about 500 for a new front bumper painted from the dealer )

Check my sig for pictures of what my car did one day.....

remote start is cool and is possible to do. but its only cool until you push the button when your car is in gear. my friends car hit a brick wall because of it.

Very illegal, most places won't touch your car if its a manual. I know the Ford dealership I work at won't even work on them. There was an accident were a kid dropped off there cougar and didn't tell them it had a remote start, well the service mechanic reconnected the battery, and it made the car start, which sent it driving through the shop, crashing into all the tool boxes and a brand new steel garage door. They told the kid get your crap off our lot, we're not responsible for this since you didn't say anything about an illegal remote start.

Edit - I speak for NJ, don't know about other states...

There is a big bright sticker as soon as you open my hood that warns whomever that it is has a remote start.

It can be done, It is illegal in some areas, and most installers wont do manual transmissions. I personally wouldn't want to risk an accident, but it is entirely up to you.

I have seen kits that won't arm the Remote Start unless the car is in neutral. You have to hit the breake before you leave and it won't arm unless its in neutral. I just was wondering if there was a kit that did both.

I have one. AstroStarter makes it. I have the 2-way pager, remote starter, alarm. They charged me $600 cuz it was a manual (and it's illegal, haha.) In mine, the remote starter is only activated if you pull the e-brake up twice. So, other people can't activate it on accident unless they knew how my remote starter works.

I'd rather pay for a bumper than someone's hospital/car repair bill. Oh and the lawsuit/fines you'll face. Or worst, cost someone their life. In short don't do it, it's not worth it.
