Default mono amp install question...

I have my 4 channel amp setup already, attached to all 4 speakers in my car. I have all the wiring done for my sub amp, and am getting my sub real soon. I want to get my trunk back together with the storage bins and all. Would there be any harm in hooking up all the wires to the sub amp and having it turn on witjh all the other equipment? There is nosub hooked up, so the amp would essentially be doing nothing.

if i were you I'd just hook up everything except the remote wire.......then when u put the sub in....hook the remote up......that way your amp isn't drawin power when it isn't pushing anything...

When I hooked up my MONO AMP it would only work with either the right or left channel hooked up, NOT both they cancell each other out. It took me an hour to figure it out

Sounds like something wasn't wired right. Mono amps don't have a left and right channel. There maybe two sets of outputs to make wiring multiple subs easier but they should be parallel outputs meaning the same amplified signal is coming from both.

that's how mine was.........duplicate channels.......mono amp means one channel even if there's 2 outputs...

whats the problem with the amp drawing power when its not being used? The thing is, im screwing the amp into the styrafoam bin, so im worried, if i mount it then take it out, it wont be as tight. Also I kinda wanna just hook up everything and get it all squared away.. Hmm maybe I could just hook everything up on the amps end, but not put the fuse in at the battery? Then it wouldnt get power. Would that work out ok?

I'm sorry, I meant to say it wouldn't work if both right and left INPUTS connected to the HU. It only has 1 output. When both L and R inputs were hooked up they cancelled each other out and the sub would not hit. It was strange but it was my first ever amp and sub install
