Krevo 09-09-2005 09:42 PM

nero has the option to make mp3 dvd write under the option to burn regular mp3 cds

Hmm, I'm thinking no. There's no DVD logo on it.

the unit would have to be able to play dvds which it does not. My friend has a kenwood deck that will play dvds and mp3s and he can fill a dvd with mp3 music and it will play it. crazy.....

Nope.

It wont be able to read a dvd-r with mp3 files on it.. I've tried.

Can't be too greedy, 4.7 gigs of mp3's would be nice, but 700 megs isn't so bad either.

Sorry, no, but it can play MP3-floppy discs and MP3-memory sticks! Try it!

I know... you just have to shove it in really hard.

If you want that much music, get an iPod. (I'm just waitin' for somebody to post, "Don't you need a screen to watch your DVDs?"  )

I got the 20 GB OmniFi DMP1 in my car which works great and keeps about 1/3 of my collection at the push of a button. The only pain was figuring out where to mount the controller but it's been up and running great for 6 months now.

Even though they look the same, CDs and DVDs are fundamentally different. That's why you can't burn a full sized DVD image to a CD disc, why you can't read a DVD disc (data or movie) in a CD drive, etc etc.
If you have an in-car DVD player, there is a good chance it can probably read DVD data discs loaded with mp3 files (just like many home dvd players), but if you just have a simple car cd player, it's not going to work.

this JVC headunit can play MP3's on DVD discs.
