well part of the problem with this is you will need to extend your + terminal to run the optima battery.
other then that just put what fits, all the optima batteries are fairly small.

yea the reg size that you can pick up at any parts store works fine, they make a HUGE one, and a small Honda one, also. You don't HAVE to extend the terminal, you can just bend it to get it on, look at Big Hungry's pic and you will see what I mean, I have had mine done that way for over 2 years now with no prob what so ever. You will need to use the plastic tray that comes with the battery to space it up so that our factory battery tie down rods will not be to long.
if you insist on extending it check here.

OK, since there is not a lot of definitive info out there on the Optima battery. I did
a little research and a little engineering. I bought a yellow-top 34/78 battery and installed
it today. I ordered these parts from McMaster.com
#7752K41-stud to post terminal converter ($6.00)

#69645K58 - crimp-less battery terminal connector with 3/8" stud connection($2.32)

#98760A112 zinc plated steel hold down bolt, round "L" end 5/16-18 thread, 10-5/8 length pack of 2 ($7.41)
(no picture)
(these where way to long but they are threaded all the way down and I measured
them and cut them off. The factory bolts are long enough but they are not threaded
down very far)
I mounted the terminal connector to the post converter

and then mounted it to the battery thus creating the required offset. This eliminates
the need to bend the positive terminal and fuse block.

and there we have an Optima Yellow top all snug in my xB. I hope this helps others.

the blue is for boats, red and yellow are both for cars, yellow is better for cars that use a lot of power, cause they can recharge faster, and recharge back to 100%. The red is more for big trucks (duramax, cummins, etc) that need high cranking amps.
