Pioneer Sirius SAT Radio Tuner comapatible w/ Factory Unit?
Called a local shop today and they said it wasn't. I thought the Stock Poineer Reciever was SAT ready.
Can anyone help with this? I"d rather get the tuner then the whole head unit and having to find a place to put that. |
I think they are right . I read a post a while ago on this site that you do have to use the Scion wupplied reciever because special connectors thats proprietory to the Scion head unit.
You can always get one of those that connect through the radio channels, but I heard the sound quality on those are compromised. Tell us if you find out something different on this, Those 99 dollar reciever packs from Best Buy are so much cheaper than the Scion OEM units (close to 300 bucks?) Chombi |
yea i called the dealership and its over 300 bucks... the sirius head unit a lil less then $100 with $30 rebate at radioshack.
So my next question is wherer would one put the sirius unit? |
Moved to ICE... :lalala:

if you go to the sirius site they have the connectors i was looking at them for my tc when i got my dad his for his alpine around christmas time last year

They have adapters to get a regular sirus radio to work on the
Scion HU?? Got links Aaron? I got a Sirus setup from a tC owner and installed it into my xB. It looks just like the store bought decoder units, but with a specific antenna and different plugs that work with out Scion HU. I'm wondering...since the Eclipse head units use the same harness as the stock Toyota does, will an Eclipse Sirius also work with Scion HU? Lots of questions, but very few answers. I can tell you that if you have the AUX input on your Scion HU, you will have issues with diminished sound quality running Sirius as they share the same plug port. Ask me how I know... |

Hmmm. looks like they are talking about Kenwood interface. We have a Pioneer HU as OEM. Someone want to give it a try anyway??

No. It will not work. There is no way to make it work. End of story.
Your stereo may be made by pioneer, but it does not have an ipbus port in the back, only toyota ones. We've covered this dozens of times. |
Yeah, that adapter looks like simply an AUX input using the
CD Changer, which is what I already have. That would be great for an aftermarket Sirius setup, but you woudln't be able to controll it with the stock HU, you'd have to have one of those little LCD screens with the controls on it. Honestly, after being so dissapointed with the lack of information on my stock HU (one line 12 characters or something) I'm really thinking about just ditching it all for a nice $650 CD/DVD/MP3 with lots of inputs for all my gear. |

I have a sirius tuner from the dealership that I am not using if someone wants to make me an offer or trade for the right TC parts
