Poll Alarm

Just curious. If you guys have aftermarket with a remote starter, how do you get the remote starter to work, since we have the immobilizer chip in our keys.

if you have Viper 791XV (or any DEI alarm systems), you'll need the IMMOBILIZER INTERFACE MODULE (556U) and you'll lose 1 key.
Info here:

The 556U IMMOBILIZER INTERFACE MODULE is used when Installing Remote Start Products in Vehicles Equipped with an RF (Radio Frequency) Based Immobilizer System. This System Uses a (Transponder) Small Chip Imbedded in the Ignition Key, to transmit a very Low Powered RF Signal. This Signal is Picked Up Through an Antenna (or Coil) and the Ignition Switch which is then Sent to the Immobilizers Transceiver.Once the Correct Signal is Received, the Immobilizer will Enable the Ignition and /or Fuel System. If an attempt is made to Start the Vehicle and the Transceiver Does Not Receive a Valid Code, the Ignition and sometimes the Fuel Systems are Disabled. The Immobilizer System will then Render the Remote Start Useless.

BTW, factory alarm is piece of $hit, why waste $500 for it, I paid $230 total for the Viper 791XV (brain & couple modules), 2-way alarm, remote start, roll windows...

bump. I know there are more of you out there.

I have to agree with zyzyx6969 if your gonna get an alarm get the Viper first off its top of the line compared very closely to the compustar.. Besides the scion security is basically only keyless entry not an anti-theft system..

I went with a Clifford Martix 3.5 Pretty much the same things as the VIper 791XV.

Like zyzyx6969 said, the immobilizer was bypassed with a module. I think I got the module for like $40.

Cost me $400 total for the alarm, module and install.

I recommend getting the alarm and components off ebay and just paying someone to do the install. You won't get the full warrany but it's cheaper than going to an authorized dealer.

Was quoted $640 for the install from an authorized dealer.

agreed !!! Ebay rocks !!! :D
Bestbuy has the 791XV for $499 + tax :nails: , 556U module for $54+ tax at BB or $24.99 at FRY'S.
paid $215 shipped off Ebay brain + modules !!!
Differences ??? I don't think so, both are factory sealed ! So, no worry then !

don't need to worry about warranty, PM me, I'll tell ya (can't say it in public). :lalala:

BTW, if you wanna get it done at an authorized dealer (SoCal, OC area) , I'll tell you where to go, $100 for labor. Can't beat that price. :D
