questions about edash kits

how's the quality on these carbon fiber kits? how are the fit? are the edges rounded out to fit all the way over the pieces? or are they flat? i don't want flat kit so you can still see silver or black where the carbon fiber doesn't cover.

I think the kits are very good. Nice thick pieces. Rounded edges. Fit very well I think. I would think you can alawys return the item if you don't like it. Assuming you don't peel the sticky adhesive off the back.

I have had mine for a few months now and here is my list of gripes:

I think that the pieces could have covored a little bit more or the door handle, shifter and window switch areas

almost imediatly the corners of the piece that covers the ashtray came up and straightend out (and yes the adheasive was properly installed)

just a few days ago the long piece that goes on the drivers side door panel started coming up...I did put it back down again and it has not come up again.

other than that, they are good, thick and not of cheap quality with smooth rounded edges.

heres a few pics:

That alphadash.com site was great, but the pictures didnt do any justice
i've got the stock cf kit in my box (dealer installed)
do any of the dash kits match that? Shoot, i'd pay the full 169 and just use the smaller parts (being that i've got the main dash kit already)

I really don't like the kit that is posted above. I don't like that it looks like just a sticker stuck on the top and doesn't cover the whole piece. I really like what some peole are doing with paint on the interior of their xBs. I am planing on wrapping mine in real carbon fiber and a few coats of clear on top. I've made CF parts from molds before, bit I think that it'll turn out.

I was the first orange edashkit CF guy, I had in before I had my xB in like January, it went on nicely, but like Lava scion said I wish it would have covered more. The CF looks nicely and the clear coat is nice and thick but it can scratch easily.

See I like how it looks. I think the pieces are nice and thick compared to some i have seen that are literally stickers out of a 25 cent vending machine. I think the reason i like the edashkit is because it is kind of accent pieces. If all of those parts were completely CF i think it would be over kill. The way parts of the sides and stuff show through I think gives the car a nice contrast of colors. Just my opinion :)

paintable?

would it be possible to have the kit painted in any way? i like the idea of the kit, but i would much rather it be color matched to my camoflauge (whenever i get one...). just curious.

Check out edashkits.com. They have like 20 colors. Ranging form solid colors all teh way to mixed colors like orange/yellow.

even though I spelled "camouflage" wrong, my question is still the same. I'm not really impressed with any of the colors they offer.

You could look around for carbon fiber roles with the camo color that you think would match and have someone do a custom job for you. But you don't just paint carbon fiber.

theirishcreme 09-08-2004 06:46 AM

hm..

I suppose I'll stick with a custom paint job then.
