Remote start ignition bypass
I installed a python aps787c remote start alarm in my 04 xa. When I click the remote start button I hear the units internal relay clicking about 6 times. My question is about an ignition bypass. Does the xa require one for a remote start to work? The pkall bypass doesn't list the xa, but does list the xb. Thanks
If your key has a chip in it, then yes you will need a bypass. easy way to tell is the key typically has a letter on the metal part right below the plastic. Also, if you bought the car new, there will be a little metal tag on your spare keys key ring with a number on it which lets dealerships know what kind of chip is in your key in case you some how lose all of your keys but not that little tiny metal tag. If you still can't tell after that, go to a hardware store, have them cut you a copy of your key (5$ maybe) take it back home, and with NONE of your original keys in the car, take your newly made copy, and try and start the car. If it doesn't start, then you'll need a bypass and spare key. Any questions just let me know, I know that was a ton of info real quick.

You dont have a lot of info to go on, alarms can be very simple or very complicated... unfortunatly your not going to get a quick and easy answer.
When try to remote start, does the car try to start or do you just hear the relays clicking?? if the car trys to start, then dies then you either need to check your tach connection or programming or it could be incorrect, if you are not using tach then you need to refer to the install manual on how to program the voltage tach...
lets start there

its a prestige. and all i hear is the relays clicking. the parking lights do not flash ( manual says they will flash before engine start ). i appreciate the answers you have given. i think i may have narrowed the problem down to the ign 1 and 2 wires being backwards. the instructions provided with the kit were very hard to follow. i am an aircraft electrician, cars are very different from an airplane built in 1980. but again, thank you for the quick andf helpful responses.
No problem, those audiovox instructions are terrible. The ign wires (1 &2) should both fire 12v, and hold the voltage on those wires while trying to start the car. If you got them backward that should still be fine. If you have it on an accy wire then that could possibly be an issue, for the alarm the accy wire will not maintain 12v during the cranking process.
As for the parking lights you may want to check the polarity of the output from the alarm, as some of the alarms will be in default of a - 12v output usually its a jumper, but sometimes you may need a relay.
Let us know if it works
