Reverse Light Transmission Switch Burning Out

Hi Everyone,
I'm wiring to see if anyone else has had this happen with their box. I recently noticed my reverse lights weren't working. I did some research and with the help of a friend, swapped out the reverse light switch on the transmission case. This seemed to fix the issue.

Until tonight when backing up while parallel parking I noticed it was dark again and low and behold the reverse lights were not working. The first switch was the OEM part (2005 so it had a good run). The second switch (Oreilly in-house brand) literally lasted 2 months.

Just writing to see if anyone else encountered this and if anyone could offer any suggestions or tips.

The details:
2005 Scion xB
Manual Transmission
Everything is stock
188,888miles

Thanks
-Nik-

My suggestion...try an OEM reverse light switch from Toyota. I've found when it comes to body parts and electronics that going OEM is usually always the best route.

No warranty from O'Reilly on the switch? If so, you could try another switch from them to see if it lasts. If not, I'd say there's a short somewhere that you're going to have to chase.
