room available for under seat sub box for xB

Ok...tried a search for this but didnt see anything that had dimensions on it..
but any1 have written down some where the amount of room (L x H x W) under the front seats of a xB? (w/o cutting holes or pounding the floor boards down)
got a couple of 12's from my previous ride that i wanna put in my xB.... but tryin to take the short cut and get a cut list or at least how much room is availible under the seats w/o takin apart my car for measurements, i know the box size will vary a bit im sure due to different speaker makes etc.. but just lookin for a starting point.
oh and i know 2 12s would probably be overkill and not sure if will use both..but will see
thanks for any help...

oh yeah... if it matters, maybe some1 has exact size box already for my speaker type, the subs are kenwood 12" model # kwc-3005...ok.. i'm guessin on the kwc part..but i know the #s are 3005

thanks again

I made one for my xB a couple of months ago. If I could figure out how to insert a pic I would show you a prototype of the frist one that I built. I have a 10" that fires up, the total volume of the box is only .55cf. But it still sounds good plus I wanted the space in the rear cargo area. With mine I had to relocate the jack that is under the driver's seat. Basically its a box with a section cut out to fit over the hump where the front seat bolts to. 19"Lx12.5"Wx7.5"H

the kenwood 3005 is pretty shallow.

the box underneath my seat is 13 x 13.5 x 7.78. It holds 1 10.

doh...ok.. took some time and looked up the specs on my subs...looks like either ported or sealed need 1.5 cf(+/-0.5) of air for their optimum performance... dont think i'll be able to get that much space stayin under the seats...so guess will end up finding somplace else to install them.. or maybe buy some smaller subs.... will see..
thanks to those who responded...

You should be able to physically fit them in a box under the seat but you won't have a lot of depth to work with. Try using 5/8" mdf instead of the usual 3/4".

As far as needing as little as 1cf, you could come close. First, you may want to look at superjeer's box for ideas on maximizing space. (the thread is called "ultimate sub boxes" or something like that. He used space on the outside of the seat rails which will help, and you may also want to do what 8BALL did and use space under where the seat slider thing is(you know, the lever you pull up on to move the seat forward).
ALso, keep in mind that the bottom piece for the box can be as 16.5" or so deep without really interfering with rear passenger's leg room.

I am trying to do both for some 10's and the box could actually come out to around 1cuft. You may not be able to do it as it would require the top piece to be narrower than the bottom and according to my measurements, the top piece will be 12 1/4 wide...so that may be a problem.

You can also use some polyfill (I think 1lb per 1cuft) and it fools the sub into thinking that the box is up to 20%larger.

You may want to start a thread that specifically asks if anyone has a 12" mounted under their seat. maybe they can post pictures or dimensions, and I'm sure you will have some luck.

Regardless, best of luck.

I have an Arc Audio 10 inch under each of my front seats.

I was checking this one out a while back.
Its only a 10".
Dont think he will gve up the measurements to you though.
