i know that this has been done, but im curious as to what is the process of this relocation? do you have to cut a hole in the back for the wires, and if so how difficult?

I just installed a dvd player in that compartment you have to cut out the back of the compartment, then you have cut plastic, behind the compartment, is time consuming. looks sweet when finished. Bill

It really is a fairly simple process and if you ever want to switch back that piece is seperate from the rest of the dash (145.00 from Scion I have heard).

Photoshop? Why would I post a picture of a dash that really didn't exist? Who would that benefit? It is a Icon 9" screen custom mounted.

I think the Pioneer is a pretty decent deck for the money - plus it looks good in that compartment (blends in).

yeah, you're right... why in the hell don't I just trust my eyes... this is the internet and you know if you can see it on the screen then it has to be real...

I guess my feeble mind just made up the idea that somebody might mock up a screen for illustrative purposes... nobody on this board is using photoshop for any purposes...

All good points but all those threads asked for photo shop pics. Why would someone who is trying to help you out post a fake picture? I can see if it was wheels, but a tv screen would be extreme because the size diff & stuff.

I will never understand WHY people do it, but it happens all the time... just to prove a point... here I spent maybe three minutes... here's the result... source photos are found on this thread...

give me a few more minutes and maybe source my pic from video and your end result would easily fool the majority... it is a fair question, I was really after the model of screen... my point was that it didn't fit like most people's 7" widescreens....

Exactly, why would I mislead someone for no reason. If for some bizarre reason it was a Photoshop picture I would say so.

never, never, never did someone say you did... I just asked... I can't see you, I don't know you, you don't have credentials... people lie, I don't know why... it is still a fair question... I'm sorry that your pride is hurt or honesty is questioned, but this is an open forum... anyone can come in...

go read on mp3car.com and see all the elaborate mockups of people's "future" installs... they have time, no money and plenty of ideas... they pirate a copy of photoshop and have their way...

the point of your original post had nothing to do with the screen... you were pointing out the head unit... that was the "point" of your post... you would not have been misleading someone by showing them that picture had the screen been faked... YOUR point was the deck...

so apparently it is a fairly easy task, how do you mount the head unit in there though, screws? or do you just kinda put it in there? basically my question now is, what is hold ing your head unit in place?

Well, I don't know how everybody else did it but I just cut out holes where the mounting tabs were on the mounting cage and folded the tabs back through the plastic dash piece.
