Some Wired Options for Satellite Radio
Hey folks,
I thought I might pass along the information I've gleaned from researching how to get better quality out of my Sirius receiver. One person here and another on Sirius Backstage helped find some pretty easy-to-install options.
The first is a Wired FM Modulator from AudioVox

This unit plugs into the Antenna-In jack on the back of a radio, then you plug the car antenna into the Audiovox unit. Another wire plugs into the FM Antenna connection on your Sat receiver. Just like before, you program your Sat unit to broadcast on a certain frequency, tune to that frequency on your car radio and you get the broadcast, ut since the modulation is WIRED, the quality is much better. According to some folks who use it, it's quite a difference from using the wireless FM modulator. Where there was static, there is none.
The second is the Digital Auxilary Input Converter

This plugs into the head-unit on the stock Pioneer radio and creates an "AUX" mode through which you hear an external device. The other end of the unit is comprised of two female RCA jacks, to which you can hook up a multitude of external devices. To activate the system, you tap CD twice. The readout on the panel will display "CD 1 Track 1," but the audio output will be from the auxilary device. This one eliminates FM modulation entirely.
The back of my Sportster car kit has a 3.5" jack. So, I will need to get an adapter cable.
