Something I found out about RS3 Envy Green xB
This is a trouble i been having hope someone can help or just some info for you guys with the car. not sure on how true it is but that what Alpine and Vizualogic guys have said.
It all started about month ago when the monitors start to shut off and flash on and off on there own.
My Head Monitors go on when you first start the car but couple mins later they turn off and if you hit the power button nothing happens its been working for 3 month with new head unit now is not.
I had changed the stock head unit and had a guy that installed it check the wires and every thing working and there's power.
So went to dealer and they said since after market is in there i void out the warranty. So got on the phone with Alpine and Vizualogic.they are saying that they will not work with any after market head unit because it needs the Alpine Dvd head unit to work.
I was told that the way they wired it at Toyota that you cant tap into it or get different AV box and no other wires would work to the AV box.they say that AV box is only made to work with the stock Dvd player and was change by Toyota so you cant change it to after market.
so if anyone see this def would like some help i think Scion flipped us. anyone good at installs or had changed there out and have you had trouble with it.
Please leave replay thnx people.

Heh. Remember what a warranty is for, guys.
It's a guarantee that the car left the factory in good working order, and if any of the FACTORY parts fail within a certain time or mileage, because of bad parts or poor workmanship, they will fix 'em.
If you take out the factory part and replace it with something totally different, Toyota will no longer cover that part - it's not theirs and they didn't install it.
If you take out the factory part and replace it with something totally different, and it causes one of the factory parts to fail, Toyota will no longer cover that part - something YOU DID caused the failure, not something THEY DID.
If a factory "system" is designed in such a manner as to only work with the proprietary parts the factiory specs and installs, don't be surprised if you tear it apart, replace pieces at random, and it no longer works right and Toyota won't cover it. (It wasn't their fault.)
A warranty isn't some magic deal to get the manufacturer to fix things for free that we mess up. It is very simply the manufacturer warranting that THEY used good parts and put them together right. That's all.

I def know that but you don't change any thing just plug it in you have to tap into the wire to get the wireless head phones to work.
Just sux that you cant get something to work with the harness so you get stuck with a Dvd player that sux.

Plugging something DIFFERENT in, is a change.
There are a lot of things that will plug into various places, not all of them will work right. Even putting something as simple as the wrong rating fuse in can cause problems.
Good luck!

stupid of you.... you had something that was working perfectly fine from the DEALER! how could you think that Scion is trying to screw you? you basically screwed yourself.. sucks to be you.
Not that they screw me that they didn't make it work with after market head units like most cars. They want us to mod are cars right that what Scion is all about right?

there is a guy on here that sells plugs that work with the stock CD player and you can hook up an amp and sub. why dont you jsut get one of them. Its not Toyotas fault. But thanks for the heads up, i wont be changing my headdeck for sure now.
I will PM you as well but my wife's car is having the same problem. The dealership at
first said that they wouldn't work on it as TV's are not stock on Scions. I said yes they
are, It's an RS 3.0 package. They then said that I need to return it to the dealership
where I bought it as the TV's must have been a dealer option. I said NO they are a port
option on the RS 3.0 package you ^##@&*$#. So they said sorry and tested the car. It
turns out that one of the two power supplies modules (don't know the part #) is bad.
They have ordered both modules just in case. They have not come in yet. This gives
you something to fight back with. Our dealership is Cobb County Scion. One of the
guys in our club has the same Monitors in his car and they are the same as in our RS
3.0. The stealership is just yanking your chain about Toyota customizing something
that didn't need to modified. Especially since Toyota never had the parts, they are
installed at the port. Those guys don't fabricate anything.
PM me if you need to.

Hey All out there that own a Envy Green Scion you can add a aftermarket amp two power up the whole system. I justed did it with a six channel amp it was realy easy and youll all can do it i can sell you or set you up with this system. what I have is MB quarts front and rear 61/2 and audio control x over and swiss audio amp. Oh and about the factory warrenty the have too prove that you are at fault the cant blame it on the last thing done or the installer!!! I know this have had this prob before I was a manager of an install place and now own my own install and car audio company. I have delt with this before in Cali.
Oh and about the factory warrenty the have too prove that you are at fault the cant blame it on the last thing done or the installer!!!
(If the aftermarket installer lopped off or rewired connectors so a factory unit can't be plugged back in, that is also a reasonable argument in the dealer's favor rather than the aftermarket installer's. If pushed, the dealer would have to charge for restoring the wiring to stock so that the tests could even be done, and if it turns out that the aftermarket installer caused the problem, the entire cost is NOT the dealers and either the owner or aftermarket installer will need to pay dealer labor rates for the work they had to do...)
Tomas
It's not Toyotas fault for you changing units, but it does sound like they sabotaged there TVs ? If u bought a Dodge Caravan with a Dvd player in the rear and want to change it out you can and everything still works (i know i did it).. but oo no not Scion
they say there custom, but the dealerships are the worst (at least around here) if u did give it back to them they would pro screw it up or break something, (that's what they did to me
) so just take it to a local Apine installer, and yes your warranty is broken

Well I'm not sure if I understand your problem completely. I swapped out my stock head unit two days after I got my RS3. I havn't had a problem with my monitors at all. Does your new head unit have a video output? I know you said you took it back to your installer but I would take it back again and have him double check everything because your stock monitors will work with an aftermarket head unit when hooked up correctly.
His problem is the same as my problem. The power supply modules are faulty. His
problem is complicated by the fact he changed out his head unit and the Stealership
is claiming that caused the problem with the power supply. The two are unrelated.

my girl is having the same problem so i guess ill take em up and get them fixed. it was really makin me mad cuz it worked fine for about 4 months and then all of the sudden they just started blinking.
