Sony PSone LCD install in xB - anyone done it?
Since KMart has PSone LCD screens on clearance for $13 I picked up 2 of them with the intention of putting at least one into my xB. I was hoping I'd just be able to stand it up in the spot above the glove box but unfortunately it's a bit too big to do that. So I'm going to have to end up taking it out of the plastic housing and fabbing something up.
One option I've seen is here: http://www.asdffdsa.net/projects/screen.htm

They use an off-brand PSone LCD and put suction cups on it so they can stick it to the windshield. Not bad. Anyone have other thoughts?

Yeah it's got a composite input or you can hack a VGA cable to it for direct input from a PC. They would work well for headrest monitors but since I rarely have people in the back, something on the dash would work better for me.

I went to two K-Marts (Sears Essentials) last night after reading your first post.. none of them had psOne screens. I would guess if you have a K-Mart, that its probably clearancing out those screens cuz its gonna be converted to a Sears Essentials.
The screen its self is nice, because I had one a while back. Fairly high quality.. but kinda fugly looking. You can pull the lcd out and make a better housing... Actually.. woah.. this requires a seperate paragraph..
** That screen is pretty thin if I remember. You could even take your sunvisor down, cut a little slit to slide the screen in, and cut a nice frame in the fabric to fit the actual lcd (not the lcd and metal housing). Then go grab a rubber make your own gasket kit from the auto parts store, make a nice clean frame around the fabric opening and glue it all down with some hot glue.. Dude! There ya go.. a sunvisor lcd monitor for under 30 bucks! Sweetness!

Yeah they're a clearance item - some guys over on cheapassgamer.com were able to score some so it's been making the rounds. It probably helps that I live in a less-populated area than most people.
