The pink stuff is really light. I don't know how much the amount I put in weighs but I'm sure it's less than a pound. The whole roll feels like 5 and it didn't take much.

20sqft of edead v1SE = ~7lbs

it weighs enough to take the twang out of your panels/doors/hatch etc.

I am in the process of doing mine now... If you guys are going to do this my one suggestion is to get a good set of gloves and/or a box of band-aids.

I'll post some pics soon.

I've never used sound-deadening material before. I know that my door panels rattle when my little 8" sub hits, but the doors themselves are fine. How much trouble is it to deaden the door panels? I'm worried that after I put some deadening material on the panels I won't be able to get them back on!

Default Thanks

Thanks for write up,

I decided to do the project and have Edead material waiting for my hands. Seems one of the first best steps to improve over all quality of the car for the money. Looking forward to posting couple pics.

Did the rivits have to be replaced on the hatch and side doors? Meaning are they single use?
Are the side door rivits and hatch rivits available from a Scion parts dept?

As long as it's not too cold out you should not have a problem with damaging them. There is a tool made to remove them that works very well.

I have a question...How much noise is coming from the little covers on either side in the back? You know, the ones you take off to get to the rear light wiring? Mine has what looks like a 2"-3" square 'carpet padding' just shoved in there. I was thinking this is where alot of MY unwanted sound is coming from. I can see the outside after taking this 'padding' out. Check it out on your own box...I bet you see light!
It's a GREAT write-up and almost a nessecity when doing sound systems, but I think we are overlooking the obvious here as far as where the drone or exhaust/road noise coming from the back area.

Anyone tackle this?

I am in the middle of doing my xA with EDead V1, with just the spare tire and rear seat area done, I can tell a HUGE difference! While it isn't Lexus quiet, it sure makes a nicer riding car..I hope to get the hatch area done soon, then it is the door panels. The hardest part of the project is bending over so much is killing my back!

I'm looking into eDeading my box too. I would love to get rid of that weak, tinny sound that the doors make when you close them. Anyone know if deadening the doors will make them sound less tinny and cheap?

Putting eDead in the doors will def reduce the cheap sound the doors make when they are closed.

Great post ... this is a project that costs little more than time and really increases the ride quality. No one will appreciate doing this mod more than the owner!
