Use Aux Input Port with Aftermarket Head Unit

Hey Guys,
I've done a lot of searching but no matches...

I've got an aftermarket head unit with RCA Aux Inputs on the back. I've also got a 2006 xB with the Aux Input plug (not the iPod specific plug) in the center console.

I think I've found the wiring harness in the dash that connects to the Aux Input plug.

Does anyone know if there is an adapter out there that will convert this harness to RCA cables?

Thanks!

Good question yo! I actually wanted to know about this too. What harness is the one you think works for the adapter? Isn't it plugged into your aftermarket HU already?

There was an extra harness left over after I plugged all the others into the aftermarket stereo. If I remember right (and it was several months ago) it had like 4 plugs.

I remember thinking this was the Aux harness because it was previously connected to my stock head unit which had the aux option (like all 2006's) but which did not have the iPod option.

Yeah there's four wires for that stock input. I think the only way you could use that would be to splice rca wires into it but you would have to figure out which wire is for what. I just ran an rca cable that had a female 8th inch stereo plug on the other side to the center console. The stock input adapter can be removed from the the little lid thing you see when you look down on it leaving just the hole. I mounted the female side of the cable under that hole.

Like Lowellster mentioned this is a possibility but I would probably seek other avenues as some (myself included) had some noise issues utilizing the stock AUX input. Mark

Good call... the wires didn't look very thick so probably prone to intereference. Thanks for the info on hooking up a separate cable.

Your welcome, yeah I didn't think the input sounded very good on the stock and about a three foot cord fits just right. Good luck with that.
