Default Weight Reduction

I want to drop about 100 pounds out of my car and still have it maintain the stock look inside and out.

Cut the flooboard out between the front and back seats. The carpet will cover the hole and nobody will ever know the difference. Oh, and you can pull the radiator to reduce weight as well.

CF hood, remove spare tire, remove rear window wiper motor, remove a/c unit and lines, remove the speakers in the doors and the back, or if you want some sound remove the back ones and keep the front, if you remove all remove the head unit, remove all power windows and convert to old school roll-up windows. Combined all of this should be at least a 100lbs, the a/c unit would be the most significant weight loss.

I'm considering taking out the a/c out, haven't decided yet. You can also do smaller things like light weight battery, ultra light weight 15'' wheels, removing rear seats (but you said you wanted to keep it stock looking so)

ya 100pds is like spitting into a bucket... if it were 600+ sure but the easiest way to take 100 pounds out the car is to not sit in it! not to make you feel bad but only a 16 year old would ask this! i used to say stupid things too just think everything out before u write next time.

Actually, 100lbs you will feel a difference. A general rule of thumb is, for every 100lbs lost is like keeping the weight there, and adding 5-10whp. Might not seem like a lot, but when the car is light as it is, you will feel that difference. Enough to justify? Thats anyones opinion.

Getting rid of 100 lbs will be like adding 4.7hp and would translate to a 0-60 time reduction of .4 seconds. I don't think it is worth it if you are taking out a critical component of your car such as back seats or spending a lot of money like getting a carbon fiber hood. Leave it alone your car is not fast.

It could be fast, not with this motor. I'm not concerned about drag fast, i'm more into autocross fast. 6 1st places, 2 non-placed events and i'd say the box is doing pretty well.

Also, its people like you that believe in numbers. 150-160whp and the box will run low 14's, 180whp and the box will run high to mid 13's, get my drift? 105-110whp and n/a manuals are running high 15's, some as low as mid 15's.

You're asking for too much if you want to trim as much a 100lbs and still look stock.

The best you can do is clear your trunk and get the lightest rims and tires you can afford. The next thing I would do is get a lightweight battery. A carbon fiber hood will really not do much to save weight for xAs and xBs because the stock hood is so small already, but if you're that hardcore, go for it.

if you want to cut weight for autcross your looking at the wrong part of the car. find some super lightweight wheels (15in). removing unsprung weight will give you the biggest diff

I dont know exactly why you want to lighten your car by a 100lbs, so this may be kind of a stupid idea. But why not get a light weight crank pulley? It wont lighten the car any, but it has been said with this on it is like removing a 100lbs from the car. Just an idea, good luck.

l0l - some hilarious suggestions on here!!!

I would think you can replace the "non-moving" windows with that plastic window stuff they use on nascar cars. CF hood, CF rear hatch if possible. and definitely lighter rims.

These are the things that come to mind.... lighter seats maybe? remove all radio components (head unit, speakers, wires, etc).....

I can't think of anything else.

If you are really serious about this you can remove all the plastic trim and door panels and take a 3/4" hole saw and drill holes in the sheet metal inner structure spaced about 1" apart.then reinstall all trim.
And remove the spare,Jack, lug wrench and tow hook, unbolt the tie down from the under side.Remove center rear seat belt.

Im sure there are other things that can be removed.
