Default xB Driver Door Lock does not respond

I have a 2005 Scion xB that I just purchased. It has power locks but not the keyless entry. But when I hit the lock or unlock button on either the driver or passenger side door the driver's side lock is unaffacted. Is it designed to be locked and unlocked only with a key or do I have an electric issue such as bad wiring connection, bad relay, etc.?

I am almost certain that all xb's come with keyless entry standard you must not have recieved the remote. I would suspact that you have some electrical problems. my experiences with an electrical problem that required me to buy electrical parts for my scion were very expensive. depending on how recently you purchesed the car i would contact your dealer and the bbb to find out if your state has any type of lemon law if so the time that you have to return the car is very short. if they will agree to repair the problem for free make sure to get it in writing.

True. check on the Lemon laws and get the remotes, and if they don't have them, they should buy them and have them programmed.

It's probably just a bad motor or a blown fuse.

Default Thanks for the advice

There's no way I'm getting the remotes from the original seller (who didn't even know it was supposed to have one) so it looks like I will be purchasing these on my own. Scion of Knoxville wants $85 for the remote and $49 for the programming (wow!). Fortunately I see that these remotes run about $20 on eBay and the programming advice is free so I do believe I'll take that route.

Any advice on which fuse would control this power lock? How difficult is it to replace this motor?

If the driver's door opens with the key I don't think there is a problem with the fuse. The key just activates the door lock motor, it doesn't move anything. Could be motor if the key doesn't do it. Wiring connection or relay if the key works and only the switches don't.

Yes, the key does lock and unlock the door from the outside, so you're probably right about the door lock motor still functioning. I guess I need to remove the door panel and check out the wiring. Does anyone know where the relay for power door locks would be located?

I'm afraid it may be the door lock control relay which is located under the dash just left of the speedometer. Looking here https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=138456 I can find only one connection between the switches in the doors and the relay, which is also under the dash. The key lock does not pass through that connector, so the problem may be there? The door lock control relay is aobut $425 so it's not something you can just replace as a troubleshooting step.

Good Luck!

check ebay for the key fob - they are cheap. that guy must have been feeding you a line if he 'didn't know the xB came with a remote'

when you got the keys, did you get a little metal tab with a printed code? that woudl be the keying code used for the remote and key copies.

Nope. Unfortunately all I was delivered was a duplicate ignition key. I wasn't even given the original OEM key. I did see that the fob's go for about $20 on eBay including instructions for the programming so I will be purchasing one of these remotes. Thanks again for the advice.

BTW - The door lock will unlock all doors when I turn the key to the right twice so the signal is being sent correctly. And the buttons do trigger the lock/unlock function for all the other doors so that signal doesn't seem to be the problem, but I'm hoping that there is just a loose wire preventing the signal from reaching the driver door lock?

Did you take a look where your spare tire is located. That is where the fobs were zip tied down. I just discovered them by accident about a month after I bought the car .
