Default XB Replacement dome light

How do you think this would look in the XB. The current dome light is damn near useless. Was thinking about this one:

Product Information

I assume it would be easy to replace the current one with this one.

Truthfully I think it looks cheap. What I would do is go to a junk yard and pull one from a car that looks good. There was a person hear that did it in the rear but I am not sure from what vehicle he got it from. Good luck.

Reminds me of a airplane overhead light. Where are the airconditioning nozzles on that thing If you like it though go for it.

I replaced the bulb in the dome light with a much brighter bulb and it's much better now. You should try that first, it's a lot easier to swap out a bulb than drill holes in your ceiling ;)

I found a pair of Silverstar bulbs at a Super WalMart and thought they were blue tinted by looking at the bulbs in the packaging but they turned out to be very white and almost twice as bright as stock bulb.

I have just added map lights to the front between the visors out of a Nissan, and a rear cargo light (connected into auto-on circuit) out of a Honda. ($8 for both at junkyard) Painted all textured black. I am happy with the looks and works great.

Linky no worky !!

There is a guy that got a used light and placed in the headliner up front and wired it to the factory dome light ....seemed like a great idea. I might be able to find the story via the search engine..

cyyclopse - Are you at all concerned that the brighter bulbs you put in will be a fire hazard? Are these sockets similar to those in a home where if it calls for a 40W bulb and you put an a 100W it can overload the wires and cause a fire?

Hmm...not sure why you cannot get the link to work, but here is a picture of sid_XBicious mod.

Said he scoured the junkyard, and this was from a Nissan or something.
