xB steering wheel swap with audio control wheel
O.k., I have two 2006 xB's. One has blown bags and a plain steering wheel.
The other 2006 has good bags and the steering wheel controls.
Question is, if I switch out the wheel, bag, and clockspring, will it all work right?
Primarily asking about the airbag.
The radio control plug is the same, but the regular wheel only has one wire, where the other has about 6.

No......the bags will not swap.
When I bought my 2005 xB, it had blown bags. My steering wheel/bag did not have the radio controls.
I had an opportunity to purchase a bag with radio controls. The seller told me that the (radio control) bag will not interchange onto the plain wheel. I don't know what the difference is, but the guy had a huge storage container filled with First Generation xB parts. He does online used xB parts sales so I guess he knows what he is talking about.
If your airbag is blown, you may also have to replace the front seat belts since they too are part of the airbag system. The belts have some type of ratcheting mechanism built into them and when the airbags deploy, the belts will reel in a few inches of the belt length. They are a "one time" use type of thing.
This is what I had to replace for my SRS (airbag) to work again:
Steering wheel airbag (due to deployment).
Clockspring (due to the heat generated from the airbag deployment which "glues" the electrical connectors onto the bag housing requiring the clockspring wires to be cut for removal).
Passenger dashboard airbag (due to deployment).
Drivers and front passenger seat belts (due to ratcheting affect of the automatic tensioner).
Visit to local Toyota Dealership to reset the system and 'reset" it.
