XM Install questions
 

Hi,

I've done a search and cannot find the answers I'm looking for.

I bought an XM Tuner (XMD1000) & Pioneer Adapter (XMDPIO110) to install into my xA. I plan on installing myself. The instructions for installation on the trdsparks website give a lot of good info on dissassembly and reassembly. But I have some questions.

1. The instructions for the adapter state: "Take the thin power cable with the fuse holder and connect it to a constant 12V power source". Could I simply crimp it onto the power lead for the head unit? Or, where would you guys recommend connecting that power lead?

2. Do any of you have this same adapter, and if so, where did you mount it?

Connecting to the radio power source is good idea to keep down on engine noise.

Removing the console panels
 

Thanks for the suggestions. Also one more question.

If I don't have the Toyota panel removal tool, what's the best way to remove the console panels around the radio? Do I even need to remove the radio, or will I have enough access to the back from removing the glove compartment?

Any suggestions?

I just don't want to remove the panels if I don't need to, for fear of scratching them up and also creating rattles when I drive after replacing them.

Ok. after pulling my dash apart, and the head unit out, I find the head unit does not have a cable jack that's compatable with the adapter, they're completely different.

Does anyone know if there's cables out there that will work with the stock head unit and the Terk XMDPIO110?
