Buying Used Coilovers

I was given a good deal on some tein basics, but the only problem is that they are used. It is only about a month old. My friend told me that I shouldnt buy used coilovers because of the unknown condition. He told me that the person could of ran over pot holes and stuff. What are your guys thoughts about buying used coilovers?

If the price is right. Go 4 it. If not wait and get new.

Few things to consider:

1) Really, how long was it on the car for?
2) How low did they have it all the time?
3) What type of condition are they in?

Consider these so you can get an idea of how long of a life you will have on these shocks. Because if the shocks will be blown soon, then you'll be out all of the money you just spent......it's not like you can just replace the shocks only on coilovers. Just my .02

Yes, but that cost defeats the savings of buying used in the first place.

cutting? with the teins you shouldn't have to. maybe if you bought cheapy "sleeve" type coilovers but this shouldn't apply w/ the teins. check Tein's website for their install instructions to be sure (http://www.tein.com/ti/inst/ll42u.pdf). the only thing i can think of that usually manufacturer's have in mind when cutting is involved is the bump stops when applicable for the vehicle. in this case, nope.
