Lightbulb Friendly Maintenance Reminder - Rear Shock Bushing

If you feel your ride quality has degraded(not that it was that great to begin with) I highly recommend changing the Upper Suspension Support as shown in the diagram below. The rubber degrades over time and my old ones were compressed at least 3/4" compared to new ones. 5min is all you need, it's really that simple and makes a noticeable difference in ride quality. Part # 48755-52010 $8.34ea

was it subtle clunk over speed bumps that prompted you to seek remedy or something else ?

No clunk, just an overall harsh ride. As the bushings gradually degrade, you don't realize how bad they are until you replace them. I was at 95k miles when replaced to give you a reference.

call your local toyota dealer, took 2 weeks for them to come in, i replaced both rear shocks with kyb excel g's, no drop, stock replacements. gave great motivation for the front struts (kyb aswell) as the rears were 5min per side to replace, i regret doing the struts by myself, but managed to do ok, i also replaced the front strut mounts, went with monroes they were half the price of the kyb front mounts. justsuspension had a good deal on a kit with promo code goog5 w/free shipping.
borrowed a spring compressor from o'really's

and yes, i noticed a huge gain, rides smoother, over small bumps it doesnt feel like im hitting potholes anymore.

note* while i was down there i noticed my front sway bar bushings are cracked and dry rotting, i just ordered some energy's so i'll be putting those on next, i had to losen those bolts in order to get the struts on and off.

05 xb, owned since 10/04 89k miles

I looked up that part number online and it is different for xa's, but similar. I do notice that slight bumps is very rough, and I noticed some time ago that my front sway bar end links are dry rotted also, so I did the same as you and ordered some energy pieces. Also ordered energy lower control arm bushings. I wanted to do the full suspension cuz I have a set trd tokico's sitting in my shed and a set tein s.techs. Thanx for insight into your experience, will deffinately be doing this in the future.
