Default Front Underbody Chassis Brace Comparison

I'm in the market for extra chassis support. There are a few available for our xA's, and a few different builds. Has anyone done any sort of comparison between the Tanabe Sustec Front underbrace vs. the "other" style (two parallel bars) that the other choices use?

Sustec:
____
\/-\/

"Other:"
____
\__/

I'm no expert, but the Sustec "looks" pretty tough (haven't seen any in person), but it also uses two triangles for support, which are always stronger than straight beams. It's also priced right beside the GTSpec underbrace, which looks to be the next in line as far as quality goes.

I'm sure that these two designs don't make too much of a difference unless you are continuously pushing these cars past their limits, but I don't have first-hand experience in the matter.

Any opinions?

While reviews are great, those are hardly comparisons. I've dug around online (mainly on the GTSpec and Sustec) and both have high marks.

One of the photos did show the Sustec uses the factory bars as well. I'm not sure if that is a good or a bad thing..

looks to me like your looking at xb. the link i sent was just xa. that does not seem proper install to me at all. i've never seen tanabe instructions posted. the stock bars don't do a very good job imo at all. for anyone who does hard driving.

I'm not fully sure I know what you mean - the link lists many chassis braces for the xA, xB, and tC.

I've yet to see official Tanabe instructions, but the images I have seen do look to fit the stock bars. The Sustec brace is very thin between the two bolts that connect to the chassis and looks as if it would need (or at least benefit) from the OEM bars being installed.

I'm thinking about getting the GTSpec; they seem to be designed properly, and have plenty of support between the two bolts on each side. While I can't say one way or the other for the Sustec, it seems like a waste of money over the GTSpec, since the GTSpec replaces instead of compliments the factory bars.

Too bad it isn't for the xA.. Can't vouch for 'em, but honestly these braces can't cost anything to make so maybe Greddy is just being smart.

i have the cusco and i'm happy with mine. swapped it with a gtspec before and it's the same thing. i've been running the cusco for 2 years. the gtspec i had on only for trial, so i can't speak about durability....

I've had the Sustec for over a year and I love it, never used the factory bracing with it; there's really no need for it.
