which suspension would the xb's suspension compare to?
yeah my suspension is a lil out of whack on my xb. i attend an automotive college and we attempted to do an alignment but since the xb is so new it didn't have the exact specs to align to. i'm wondering which suspension would be an almost equal equivalent? we tried the corolla but for some reason i don't think that was right. i'd appreciate the help guys. thanks.

it doesnt work that way sir. the alignment machine uses the wheel base, caster calculations and so much more info to calculate the alignment. what kind of machine are you using? is it a john beene and if so what model? some of the older alignment machines can have that info inputted prior to the run...

i attend Universal Technical Institue. they're all over the u.s. but we have 4 alignment machines. the one my car was attempted to be aligned on was a new optical alignment one. it has all the info in the computer already. it has a list of damn near any make and model ever created. the problem is my car is new and the system hasn't been updated to fit my car yet. it's not in the listings anywhere. i forget the name of the system but i do know it's optical with the optical plates you put on the wheels and the optical t-bar which gives you an optical reading. it's all digital and stuff.

yeah i was thinking of that. i backed over a sligh snow pile because the snowplow guy in our apartment complex blocked me in. i didn't have a shelve and needed to be somewhere so i knocked the pile down a bit and backed out at an angle. it bottomed out (don't know which side but it was near the front) and then the left from tire spun. i made it out of the pile and went on with my day. a week or so later i noticed the steering wheel was a bit shaky. i balanced and rotated all the tires (it was due time for rotation anyway) and the steering wheel was still shaky. this is when i then tried to align it using the specs from the corolla. still no luck on the wheel being non-shaky anymore. went to the dealer and they drived to jerk me around saying they "basically" can't go deeper into the suspension components until they do an alignment, balance, and rotation. i said the hell with that (not mentioning i had done all those things already for fear they may say i screwed up and wouldn't work on it). so now i'm back so square one. i may just buckle down and get the alignment from toyota because i was guessing that the xb has it's very own specs to it. i figured someone on here would know. thanks.

yeah i didn't know that you couldn't align a scion. that doesn't seem to logical to me. i'm sure you guys on here know way more about scions than i've ever thought of though so who am i to question. i don't know what's wrong. i'll just deal with the steering wheel shimmy i guess.

yeah i'm taking my b to the scion dearlership in my home town. they're going to do a real alignment this time. i'm pretty sure that's what it is. if your scion is under warranty and under 20k miles then you get free alignments cuz it's not over 20k miles. the scion dealership up in limerick, pa tried to screw me and say that i HAVE to pay for an alignment even if it's under warranty. so yeah i'm not happy about that but it's alright my b will be fixed and driving smooth as ever soon enough!

okay, yes you can do an alignment on the xb. i cant believe someone would post you cant... anyway, its just a front toe setting. the rear cannot be adjusted. and you'd have to add a camber kit to the front to make the camber adjustable as well...

there's no front camber kit. you eitehr use bolt shims or camber adjustment plate up top. aka cusco. big money. not used in the world of alignments and that only changes camber not toe.
if you have lowered your car scion should not have to align your car you modified it and in the process messed something up that if left stock would not have happened.

nah the tires are fine. i've had it up on the lift at school a few times. i think it maybe the toe. therefore you would suspect the treadwear to be messed up but they're not. i think it's just a slight adjustment that needs to be mad to the toe. the steering wheel shimmy isn't too bad but it's annoying. when i bought my xb it was driving great now the steering will thing is just a huge annoyance.
