Default Weird suspension noise, xA

After driving over a couple small speed bumps yesterday, the rear end is making all kinds of noises. Extremely sensitive to small bumps, as well as quick turning. Car has been lowered since easter. No other rear suspension mods, stock exhaust.

Sounds like muted metal to metal, almost like a swaybar with a broken endlink (but no swaybar back there, just going off previous experience).

Any thoughts?

might be the spring's coils touching eachother.

Nope, Ksport springs, no dead coils. The insulator wrap is on there just in case they ever touch over a big bump. Driving over a bottle cap is enough to make the noise.

You could have blown shocks. Lowering springs should be used with lowering shocks. If they are original, you could have blown them.

Do you hear a clunking sound in the rear? I lowered my Nissan Altima and left stock struts. After 6 months, I heard the same thing your talking about.

With the car parked, the hatch open, and bouncing on the rear, the noise isn't there. Shocks have normal compression/rebound. Weird.

I just changed rear shocks on my wife's mustang on saturday, maybe the scion is jealous?

You do not have enough strength to manually compress the springs down far enough to test the shocks.

Another way to check out the car is to have your wife drive your xA and you follow behind in her car. You can look for any abnormal movement of the rear wheels.
