Default For budget minded people....

Rota has a new wheel out called Oversteer, replica of the sprint hart cp-r.

I know i might get flamed but i wanted to let those people that don't mind rockin' replicas that these are out.

I have a set of Rotas on my Civic. Good, cheap, light, cheap, decent-looking wheel.

Did I mention the prices are cheap?

I bought mine from www.machiii.net, who I am in no way affiliated with.

Oh nice! Looks good. According to Rota's site, they are 16x7 and come in offsets 18, 35, and 40...in both 4x1** and 5x1** lug patterns.

My only gripe with Rota is I really wish they would come up with some of their own designs, instead of copying other companies.

Seriously, I know they have a kickass price, and their quality some would say are just as good as other brands (granted, they are all cast vs. forged) so why not make something original?

well, if one is cast and one is forged than the forged is worth much more. Making something original would mean you have to have a design team and trail and error in the mold making process. That would drive prices up, and for what? Just so some cheapo comapny can rip off your design?! no way! hehe

I read this from a different forum and i found it interesting..

what really suck for some of you is, ROTA owns all the companies whose rims they replicate. The main company is called PAWI, Philippine Aluminum Wheel Incorp, and they originally started with the name brand ROTA. Just to name one brand they own, Enkei....
I knew that rota is from philippines and are with PAWI. But i never knew that they own all the companies whose rims they replicate.

Does anyone know if this is true?

that wouldn't make very good business sense, unless they KNOW the "Real" rims are too pricey and make them only to drive up demand on the "knock offs". pretty smart, if that's true.

I think there's like two factories in the world that make washing machines to be sold in the states. Think of all the brands and than think about what I said. I was told this buy a washing machine salesman though

Nope, no way in hell they own all the companies they copy. They would have to own Hart Co. Japan, Volk Racing, Work, and even Prodrive.

I don' know about Rota but Coker Tire owns the old tire molds which enables them to make tires that michelin goodyear and others used to make unsure if the compounds are the same. an example of this is the redline michelins that came OE on Triumph TR6.

If this is what ROTA does Awesome.
