Default pictures of my new wheels and tires.

ok, i just put on some smaller wheels so i could go lower. i still have some suspension mods to do to get the body to touch the ground, but i'm less than 2" now, and that's good for the meantime.

the wheels i got were rota grid, which are replicas of one of my favorite wheels, the volk LE-37 (TE-37 with polished lip). the color is gunmetal but it's a really hard grey with these gold metallic flakes in the paint. pretty cool, and rotas are good quality wheels for cheap. all the subaru guys are using them as well as a lot of honda people as well. i got 16x7 and the tires i got were sumitomo HTR+ 205/40/16. they fit well and the car drives very nicely with them on. might be the lighter weight, i don't know.

here are some pictures taken with a $60 wal-mart digital camera:

randy, make me a name tag please. thanks.

am i the first person to put 16s on my car? i hope so.
chalk another first up to eric m. i'm so rad.

eric - i didn't see your "long" write up on your air bags. i just installed some switches - one is in my dining room and instead of just on off - it has many variables between the "off" position and full operation. someone told me it was called a "dimmer". cool, huh? L8 - AK

AK: that's cool that you installed switches in your house. i just installed a lightswitch for a ceiling light i got at target. no dimmer though. oh well. i have installed a few switches in my car. one turns off the air compressors (although they are also on a pressure cutoff switch which is another switch) one provides power to the nitrous oxide valves. another one is connected to my throttle body and is closed upon full throttle. then there are 3 different 3 position rocker switches. one controls front up and down, one controls rear up and down, and one controls left up/right down, and vice versa. i also have a switch for my LED cupholder illumination that i made myself and was a lot less than the one scion sells. changes colors too. i think that's all my switches for now. i love hitting switches, even if it's just the cupholder ones.

here are a couple threads talking about my air setup:

randy, i will see if my friend can take some pictures tonight and i'll send them to you tomorrow morning. i'm sorry i can't afford a real camera. maybe some day.

oh, and that's not a monster truck. haha. i'm sure you were joking but just for reference, that is a completely stock 2003 dodge 1500 pickup truck. not raised and with the small stock tire package. i want to park next to a monster truck and take a picture. that would be funny.

Damn Eric, that looks good. Real good. As far as 16s go, you are like 1 week ahead of me, mine are on the way from New York (hopefully). but mine are a tad bit wider ...

cheap camera or not that looks tight. good job, all your work shows. and the wheels look sick, im a sucker for polished lips. OH YEAH!! big time!

take care,
ryan

eric the only bad thing i see is that you should push the rear wheel out more. All scions have that problem but your car is perfect otherwise that.

:( sorry Eric, but have had my American Racing 16's since July 16th, I really liked the way I thought they would look, instead of the 17+ that everyone else was gettin. If I had it to do all over again though, I really like the stuff they are doin in Japan with the wide 15s with the wheels flush with the fenders.....I really like that!!! But my xB is still stock height, except i clamped a coil on the front springs and now it has about an inch of rake to the front, looked way better after that. Really like the rear shot of your car looks pretty tough from that angle.......See Ya, Louie

Those look really really good with those tires? May I ask what offset and tire size? If I'm not mistaken those are 205/55/16s that I was planning on getting for my car! Oh no, I'm starting to get excited now. I'll stop.

According to Americanracing.com the offset is +39. And my tires are Falken 512 205/55/16......The curb bumper on the tire will just rub (mine did the first day thats all) on the rear trailing arm, but if you want you can grind the piece of welded tubing that stick out of the arm.....I didnt and its just fine now.. Other than that no probs wit rubbing anywhere else the way my car sits now....See Ya.....Louie

projxB: how wide are yours? the widest i could do was 7" without hitting either
my cylinders or my fender. you guys don't have to worry about hitting your
fenders, but since i am tucking i can't have the tire stick out too far either
way. that was the problem with my 8" 19s.

allblackxb: what do you mean by push the rear wheel out more? do you mean
towards the back of the car, or out towards the fender with spacers? because i
can't really go out much farther or i will rub the fender. right now i can
drive with it tucking wheel. when i get some new shorter rear shocks i will be
able to almost tuck wheel, which is pretty cool for 16s.

Slopoke21m: looks like i was the slowpoke this time!! haha. it's cool that you
are running 16s. 15s were also my first choice, but since i was able to get
these in 16 inch a lot easier, i just went for it. i think they look pretty
good. kind of a whole different look from the 19s though.

my offset is +40 and my tires are 205/40/16. did i mention that before? anyway,
i wanted to get 30 series tires, but they don't make them in that size
apparently. oh well. i can still go lower, i just need to modify my suspension
more. my poor car is being hacked up all the time!! oh well. hopefully you
can't tell from the outside.

so there you go. i really like the look of the tires being really flush or
maybe even almost sticking out a little from the fender. makes the car look
tough. i think those bigger series tires will look better than my rubber band
tires, but i needed that low profile to go as low as possible to the ground.
i'm just dumb when it comes to being low.

by the way, it feels like my car is faster with these new wheels/tires. they
weigh about 15 pounds each. tires are about 22 pounds each.

mod7: when do you want air? if you're serious we can do it any time. let me know.
