Broken front door latch, door wont open!!!

Broken front door latch, door wont open!!!
I need advice. I have an 06 xb. the front passenger door latch broke and at first the door just wouldnt latch closed, once it actually latched closed it is now stuck in that position. I have no idea how to fix since the door liner wont come off with the door closed.

might have to use a slim-jim device to try and pull on the bar from the door handle to the actual latch.....
total worst case is you might have to cut thru the door panel to get at the latch/bar and pull it open from the inside....then have to replace the door panel....OW
