Default Hatch lift support struts

I need to put new struts on my new hatch because I rounded off the old ones when I tried to take them off . Has anyone replaced theirs before? Is Oem the only option? Because google was no help, and the part number oreilly has for aftermarket struts is completely wrong. I'm trying to avoid having to pay te stealership 250-300$ for a set of struts :-/

You're out of luck. Take them off a junked Toyota/Scion or pay the dealership.
Nobody has found a cheap solution to this yet.

Frogbox i know i'm on your ignore list but just in case you are reading this: were the replacements form PepBoys identical to the OEM lifts? Did they come with the correct brackets or did you need to swap any related parts from the old lifts onto the new ones?

I found a direct replacement for the hatch strut, no modification required, it came with the right brackets and everything, 65$ shipped for a pair

Very cool, congrats! Can you take a picture of the bracket that holds the top of the strut? I think if it's available as a separate part it's possible to buy just that and a ball mount and use cheaper Monroe lifts or something like that.
