Default Laputa Hatch Awning

No, really, that is the name on the bag it folds down into. You can use it like in pic or put poles in the corners on the ground and have twice the size ez up type cover. Has unzippable window on back wall as set up in pic. Rolls up and breaks down into small sized bag for easy stowage............driveway test fit. It can be used on anything with hatch or even off the back of truck beds. Very versatile. It can even just be put on ground and used as low profile tent, but with no floor.

@04_Toaster Hi, this tent may be the other solution ("the other life style") to have a temporary shelter. Will be great for hobos (hobo by definition is a migrant worker), and for nomad workers. How many homeowners will like to have in their front yard (neighborhood) a "friendly bum" ? Will this improve the property value, improve the sanitary environment, and the people safety?
Or will be great when working on the car, to protect the driver from the eyes of the spying neighbors, protect from the powerful light of the sun, and create an artificial semi-private area.

Thank you for showing "The Hotel Nostalgic Scion xB" style.

The revival of Scion xB style. I believe was from the year of 2016. Not sure...

After this came up I found the sandbags for the awning poles. Bought a 4 pack for $20.............

I have used it off the back of the truck bed but forgot it can also be used off the side of the car as well.

another classic way out in left field response. Pic was test fit for leisure activities and trips like to beach or mountain biking. For now blessed to be living in a house with 3 car garage to work on stuff in and no plans to live in the xB.......possible? Yes, I suppose but not trying to find out....

That's pretty cool! Looks really easy and quick to deploy! How much time does it take to set up?

I used to sleep in back of station-wagon at Laguna Seca. Then my wife wanted to come along. So then I had to get a canopy, a tent, air-mattress, sheets & blankets, generator, electric kettle for tea, etc...

Friday night arrivals used to be 5-minute affair. I'd find spot to pit, maybe unload bike, then crawl into back with dog and ZZzzz... Now it takes over an hour!!!

Were you able to tote ALL that Gear in a xB? Or Station-Wagon?

Amazing IF you did.

It'll actually all fit into either one! But we end up splitting it between two cars to keep load distributed. Generator, tent, air-mattress usually goes into xB and Wagon carries original me+dog config. Here's how it used to be with just me and dog (note how she's already claimed her spot on bed!):

Nowadays, it's packed to gills and I have to raise rear-end about 2cm before loading up.

I can't make out the Wagon. Is that a Nissan? What kind of small Generator is that? It's surprising a Wagon that small have enough power to have a Trailing Hitch.

Even, though some have Claimed a Trailer Hitch with an xB, that's not factory recommended in the Owner's Manual.

Yup, 1993 Corolla DX Wagon, with 7A-FE engine generating whopping 117-lb*ft TQ! Luckily all Wagons were made in Japan and didn't suffer paint and AC-Delco alternator issues like their Fremont NUMMI cousins. Honda EU2200i generator is actually in xB. It's super-compact and quiet for its output-level. Good enough to power 2 tyre-warmers and make tea & coffee at same time! In back of wagon, I have snack bag (orange), cooler for fresh foods, and toolbox. Just ahead of them are 3 folding chairs, sports-bag with my kangaroo suit, helmet, back-protector, gloves, etc. Also set of spare wheels and 2 extra tyres.

Certainly no issues with towing bike, it only weighs 293-lbs with 1-gal petrol. I made trailer super-light as well by welding all beams of frame together (saves 7-lbs in nuts & bolts), alloy wheels, etc. I think it weighs around 175-190 lbs. So combined weight about 500-lbs.

Towing in U.S. is discouraged because of so many low-skilled drivers. To limit liability, Toyota doesn't mentioned anything about towing in U.S. owner's manuals or outright discourages it. Yet, exact same car in Europe will list a towing-capacity. General rule-of-thumb is you can tow up to same weight as towing-vehicle.
