Default No-drill underbody lighting??

What have you used to mount your neons/LED's/Cathodes to your underbody?

I am interested in suggestions OTHER THAN drilling ANY holes into my box.

I am interested in any existing straps/holes/?? that are already on it for mounting some cathodes from Oznium. I am thinking about using some simple velcro (or the industrial kind) actually….I would add super glue (or ???) to the adhesive side of it to make it stick more securely to both the body and the tube. Wipe the underside contact areas clean with rubbing alcohol to get off any residue and press really well to make a good seal. Then glue the other side to the tube (one mounting point at each end) and repeat for each tube. Same with the transformers.

1) I am not overly concerned with the tubes falling off….at ~$3.00 each, I would rather replace them than do any drilling.

2) They are VERY light….a few ounces at most. No need to get too crazy with mounting them, plus it would make for easier replacement for burned out bulbs or to swap to another color.

Whenever I mounted any lighting equipment, I used zipties to help hold them down. Now on the outside of the box, or any car for that matter, I won't settle for just zip ties. I go with a loop fastener predrilled and bolted in at least three places. As for the Oznium cathodes you can get, velcro and glue isn't going to hold them in place very long.

Oh yeah, regardless of what you do, make sure you hide the tubes and make sure they have enough visible clearance aimed down.

Sorry, there really isn't a great way to do it without drilling. You can however use undercoating to prevent rust.

I used zipties and pushed the neons as far up under the car as possible. theres nothing worst than being able to see the actual neons. be careful though with the zipties I had one break out of nowhere. you might want to check on them everyonce and a while.

Thanks All.

I am going to attempt a non-drill mount over the next 3-4 weeks. I will post how it goes.

If you plan on using any type of adhesive, use zip ties too as a fail safe. When i first put my LED undercar kit on, i used an all season rubber cement. It worked fine........for 2 days. I was leaving target, walking back to my car and saw a tube hanging down under my car. Nothing sucks more than pulling a crap load of wiring through the hood in the middle of a target parking lot with people starring. I bit the bullet and drilled/screwed. I also have them secured with zip ties in case the cheap plastic clips break.

Thanks for the advice!

I am going to do at least two methods to secure the cathodes. I am drawing up some ideas but I REALLY need to crawl under there to see if there are bumps or ridges that might cause some trouble with mounting.

Any one got pics of the underbody by chance?

The bumps and ridges are what gave me a hard time with my celica... That is why we ended up drilling the tubes in.. With tubes they dont bend or flex they are straight and thats the way they mount up.. Mos def lok at your underbody before you start anything because you might get stuck like I did... Also be sure that where you are placing them (with out drilling) that they dont show (IMO there is nothing more tacky than neon/cathode tubes showing from underneath)..
