Default Shattered rear hatch window...

Long story short, I need to replace my rear hatch glass. This car has been through so much...hit head on, rear end hit and run...and now shattered rear glass.

Anyone know what my cheapest solution for that rear glass is? Toyota wants like $450 for it, and that's just too much for me right now. Hell, I remember when I was a regular here, I was seeing whole hatches for $450!

Suggestions?

When somone broke into my car the dealer wanted $250 for a new window.

i was like "FFFF that!

so i google'd "auto window replacement in ___, CA" and i found a place that would do it for $120 installed.

so yea.

shopping around is your best bet, make like 5-10 1min phone calls and you'll save $$$

Yeah, NEVER buy from the dealership unless you absolutely have to! They rediculously overcharge everything.

3 years back i was given a quote of almost a grand to replace the rear glass. $450 would be a steal.

You can get all new clear glass for the back and rear most side windows for $950. Call around and also look on www.car-parts.com

Actually, I found a local auto glass wholesaler that said they could install a new rear glass for $200.

It sounds too good to be true, but they were recommended by a friend from my motorcycling forum.

So I'm heading over there this morning to see if this is for realz!

So get this, the glass, and this is the real deal OEM glass, tinted with defroster and everything....Wholesale is $85!! My receipt says Retail $430, Cost $85, and the rest is labor. In fact, while I was there, I saw no less then six other glass shops send drivers over to this shop to pick up glass for jobs!

While I was there I got my side windows tinted for $60, which was steep, but they did it quickly and it's well done. I've been too lazy to tint my own windows.

I would go there again because it's so inexpensive, and I was out of there in two hours...but I'm disappointed that they scuffed my paint...basically they are used to "city cars" and their owners that probably haven't washed their car this calendar year. They probably were surprised that I came in wearing a suit (and a very stunning tie), and that I inspected the work before I left.
