Sunroof
#3
I just bought my '05 xB Thursday. I haven't even seen it in person. My son is going to pick it up today. I hope the sunroof installation was done by a professional. I'd hate to have trouble with that thing. It should really open up the interior. My car has a rear spoiler, the sunroof, and aftermarket taillights. I'm getting it from a dealer and don't know the history, if those were dealer installed, or what. I haven't been able to locate the owner. It's the first vehicle I have bought sight-unseen, but the photos of it look great. It has a clean, one-owner Carfax.

the rear spoiler is more than likely the dealer option spoiler...the aftermarket taillights are more than likely the TYC tail lights which are also a dealer option...
i dont think the dealer ever had the option to install sunroofs but i could be wrong, it is probably the webasto since that is the most common and best quality sunroofs for the xB.

i have a Webasto in mine, and it's a nice addition. Only thing is, the place that installed it (through the dealer), did a hack job on the headliner. It looked great, but then i went to take it out to recover it, i had a schittload of problems from the way they installed it back in. Haven't had any problems with the sunroof itself though. I'd bet the farm that the dealer it was purchased from had it installed for the customer. you should be able to contact them (s/b on the carfax) and give them the vin# and they should be able to tell you where they sent it to do the work.

You're spot on with the TYC Altezzas and the Webasto sunroof. Everything works great, except that the sunshade doesn't slide real easy. It sort of has a catch in it, but it works. Thanks for the info guys.
I think I got a great deal, '05 Automatic, one owner, perfect Carfax, maint. records, very very clean, non-smoker's car, new tires, fairly new battery, recent brake job, 91,000 miles, $7,600.

you got a steal, and i envy you, i want a sunroof so bad. you should post up pics of it and show us your great find.
i just bought my second xB last month from a toyota dealership about 4 hours north of me and paid 8,500 for a 06.5, 5 speed, with 18,000 miles.

How in the world did you manage $8,500 on an 18,000 mile car, especially from a Toyota dealer? You make me look bad. I'm in North louisiana, 100 miles from the nearest dealer. xBs sell like hotcakes around here. I've seen ROUGH, high mileage ones go for $8,000.

lol, the car was on the lot for a very long time, it was about to go to auction and i managed to basically make them meet any demand i had, they didnt know what they were sitting on, all they knew was that car had been on the lot for almost 3 months and they thought they were gonna get raped at auction.
dont down yourself though, you got an amazing deal as well, anytime you can get an xB for under $10,000 youre doing good. especially since you have a sunroof, and these motors will run forever so yours is just now getting broken in.

i jacked mine up pretty good getting it out. they cut too much of the under piece, but i still managed to re-cover it and re-install it. had i known what a beatch it was gonna be, i'd kept it grey.
And OP, you got a good deal, i wouldn't sweat that mileage at all, and Dane, you got a smokin' deal!
