1st Gen xB knock-off rant thread

Ok how many of you have seen the new Ford Flex or may I say copy of the xB. I can not believe Ford!! Just becuase your cars are not selling you have to copy the xB. The Flex is a xB with a V6 and third row seat. There is no change except for longer front for the V6 and a little longer to fit the third row seat. I say Get Your Own Design!! I tought you all might want to know about that.

Soulquarian 08-15-2008 11:44 PM

No way! A car company is copying the design of another car company? That's outrageous!

:looks at cars from each decade:

Wait a minute...

snowromance 08-15-2008 11:57 PM

i just like how the general statement reguarding the xb is that it is ugly and square. yet, now all the manufacturers are getting into making a "square" car or adding square attributes to current models.

but even people buying those cars will say the xb is square and ugly. i don't get it.

SquallLHeart 08-16-2008 12:00 AM

:eyebrow:

hmm... i guess you didn't see the coolbear when it came out years ago, huh?

lostxD 08-16-2008 12:11 AM

reminds me of a funeral car

What's there to get? Some people will like it and some won't. I always thought that Hummers and other stupidly large vehicles were tacky, but that didn't stop people from buying those.

What sucks is that Scion didn't follow it's original intent of making every new model and complete separation from the previous. Instead of them being known for challenging conventions and taking risks, they took the B%!$@ route of just making things bigger.

Scion is increasingly become "common", and I mean that in every possible way.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh this thread is part of the NEWS FEED?

HOW did you start a topic here? This might be the motherlode of website bugs. o_0

CarbonXe 08-16-2008 01:41 AM

Why is this News Worthy?

smy003 08-16-2008 02:26 AM

I think the funnier part is that it has a white roof so its taking design cues from the Toyota FJ Cruiser too!

mtxblau 08-16-2008 02:29 AM

This isn't news worthy. And it looks more like a Land Rover than an xB.

Metro273 08-16-2008 02:34 AM

I really like the Flex...

808-213-503 08-16-2008 02:35 AM

The xB and the Flex are not that close.

The Flex is 5 inches taller, 10 inches wider, nearly 3 feet longer and 1500 pounds heavier. That front windshield is raked at least 15 degrees more than the xB, too.

YourNameHere 08-16-2008 02:36 AM

the xB looks like a copy of the mercedes g-wagen. which looks like a copy of the car i drew with a crayon when i was 3. The 2-box design is nothing new, scion was not the 1st to think of it. get over yourself.

noservice2001 08-16-2008 03:08 AM

so who did the nissan cube and honda element copy?

DarkSide_xB 08-16-2008 03:36 AM

yeah every other car company is really starting to make boxes especially that chinese company that made one that looks exactly the same as our cars

RodC 08-16-2008 04:24 AM

This is news, why? :loser:

WhoKilledTheJAMs 08-16-2008 01:49 PM

This isn't news.

However, it should be noted that the Flex is a very poor seller. Sucks to be Ford. Despite the fact that 20mpg combined is supposed to be "good," and that they sell three other vehicles that compete with the Flex for less money, it's a wonder that thing ever got greenlighted.

Looks like a pretty nice car but damn it's expensive. I optioned one out with all the options and it was almost at 50 grand.

Metro273 08-16-2008 09:56 PM

^^^It's a Ford, wait a year and you'll be able to get one for about $25K... :silly:
