Anyone Have VERY Subtle Noise When Accelerating??? (xB)
Purchased xB Jan. 24 '05. I've got about 7300 miles on it. Since new I have noticed a sound just after beginning acceleration from dead stop. Kinda like a twig/stick under the car. Not like you're draggin' it, but like it's "tumblin'" under the car, just for a split second though.
You've gotta have the radio off and complete silence to hear this!!!
Anyone else noticed this???

YES!!!! Everyone thought I was just over obsessing! and you described it perfect, its almost like you run over a piece of bark. We need to find out what it is. Do you have the 9 spoke wheel covers? That's what I think it is...I'll be getting wheels pretty soon so I'll see if it stops.

I noticed the same thing and had it checked out by my dealer.
The tech heard the noise I was referring to and said that the front brakes have a floating sytem that causes the noise. As I am not a mechanic, I don't know the validity of this, but they said it was normal.
Hope this helps.

I had something similar happening with my XB. I found out that there was a piece of plastic left inside the door and it would roll forwards and backwards and make all sort of weird noises. The funny thing is that I only heard it while acceleraating, never during braking.

it is the system check
Yep, he is right.....
It is not a twig or anything rolling around. It is in the owners manual. It "is" our anti-lock brakes and traction control doing a "self check" to make sure all is well. It should only do it after you have "started the car and put it in either reverse or drive and for the first 5 feet or so." If it is doing it everytime you come to a stop sign or stop light, then either it is messed up or you do have a twig or bolt rolling around.

ehhhh, I know what that sounds like. But what I hear is different, and it is from a stop, like at a light, not when I turn on the car. But my dealer found nothing wrong, so I am just not going to worry about

One day our cars are going to take over and beat each one of us into submission. My favorite sound is the "vibrating phone" sound when you are idling...always tricks my girlfriend to think her cell is going off in her bag in her "bag shelf" right above the glove box... I like to let her think that was designed that way anyhow. She has no idea...making her think she is crazier than she really is...

I have a weird noise at 1800-2400rpms. It sounds like something is rattling or a pully is loose. Its a high pitch rattle that ONLY does it at 1800-2400rpms, and it doesnt matter if im goin 20mph or 80mph its the same noise but of course your can hear it better wehn your not flying down the road. My dad sadi he noticed it the first day I brought it home but I just ignored it. I took it to the dealer though but of course they didnt hear anything or find anyhting wrong.
