As promised, below are some pics of our hood painted in Onyx Blue. The paint job came out great. We clear coated the top and bottom. The pic of the bottom of the hood is not that great because of the clear coat which created A LOT of reflections. If anyone would like more info on this hood, please email me at audioformz@aol.com. If there is enough interest, I will do a group buy on this hood at $399 plus shipping. If not, the price is $449.99. I been getting some questions concerning why and how can a company that makes fiberglass audio equipment make a high quality hood?? Fair question and here is the answer.....First, I have an xB and wanted a tricked out hood for it! Second, I thought maybe others would too! Third, the guys who work here actually have over 25 years of combined experience making fiberglass hoods! In other words, we will stand behind this hood as we do all of our products! If there is a problem, we will take care of it!

i want one soooo bad. I think i might have to get one. Do they come painted or not. Great looking hood. My friend said he thought a hood scoop would look good on an xb, i told him he was crazy and that it would look goofy, now ive seen one and now i want one bad.

 

Thanks for the comments! This hood comes in a sandable gray gelcoat finish. We do not offer this hood painted because of potential shipping damage. I can have this hood painted for local orders (near Dallas, TX). And to let everyone know, we do post cure (bake) this hood to elimate any heat distortion that may develop after you have your hood painted and installed! Heat distortion can show up as lines in the hood or little ding marks. These are unfortunately fairly common in fiberglass and carbon fiber hoods and is due to the fact that the excess temperatures of your engine or the weather is actually causing the resin to cure (shrink) in the hood. So the best way to fix this is to use high quality low shrink resins and to bake the hood before its painted. Hope this info helps.
