Default buying off the lot

I have a couple questions. Im about ready to buy my xB. I noticed that one of the dealers in my area has one on the lot in the color and manual transmission that I want. I'm going to go check tommorrow how many miles are on it and how new it seems to be on the inside. Does anyone think buying one thats been sitting on the lot is a bad idea? Also, should I decide to do it, is it possible to take it home that day? Or does all the paperwork and stuff take multiple days. Thanks!

if a used car is on the lot and the dealership it can be spot delivered the same day. paperwork doesnt really take a couple of days but it shouldnt be a big deal.

update us when you get more info

paper work is not a problem, you will sign a lot of papers and have to show the dealer proof of insurance and they will let you drive away that day.

When you can take it depends on where you are.

When I lived in DFW they would not let you leave without the car. They don't want to chance you leaving and hitting another dealer up the street.

In WI no matter what you are buying or what dealer (that I know of anyway), you cannot get the car for 3-4 days minimum.
It's pretty silly.....

The paperwork takes a couple hours, give or take if your financing through Toyota or a bank,Credit Union etc.could be more or less, but something worth the wait :D

I've purchased a bunch of new cars in the last 24 years and most were taken right iff the lot. Only one was special ordered from the factory, a 1984 Honda Accord Hatchback. It took me 6 months to get that car. A few others were not on the dealer's lot, but they located one that I wanted on another.

Bottom line is unless the car is used ot not a demo car you'll be just fine with a new one off the lot. If it's a demo car show your interest and hold your ground and you can get a pretty decent discount. If they won't work with you then go to the next dealer.

How long it takes depends on your financial situation. If you have good credit and your ____ together you should be out of there in a couple of hours. The sales people are always eager to rack up a sale that day (any day). And they dealer knows the faster he can move you down the pipeline the less likely you are to change your mind. Besides, "What'll it take to get you to drive this car home TODAY" is a classic car salesman line.
