I don't think denting would be my worry it would be the rack popping off from the weight, now just to get the wifey to be on board with this. I already asked her about it she said" we never go camping!" I said yes that right because I don't like camping in a tent on the ground and this is obviously not on the ground :P

They're not cheap but worth it to get off the ground, resistance to wind and rain and ease of setup. Also you don't have to worry about skunks, raccoons, scorpions, just about anything but a bear. If a bear wanted to get to you it could probably stand on its hind legs. This is the top of the line in RTT's they're around 3K. I looked at teardrop trailers and they're 2-3X that so not a bad investment in my opinion. Happy New Year everyone!

As I said last year in this thread I was going to get an air conditioner and I did! This is actually made to heat/cool dog houses but it worked fine for the tent. This is the same camping spot on Long Key as we used last year. These photos were taken around July 4th. A storm came in off the ocean the night before and we weathered it just fine. My son slept right through it but I was afraid the high winds would tear the tent off the rack with us in it. You can see the frame of the neighboring site's tent which was torn up during the storm. I think every tent in the campground except ours was damaged.

The only thing on the inside of the tent are the ends of the ducts, one putting out cold air and the other is an intake, so it's a closed system. The beauty of this is that there's nothing to take up space in the tent and the system is meant for outside use so no problem if it gets rained on.

So how exactly does that run thru the night? Battery power? I suppose you could just have a charged jumper pack and kill the battery at night just to use the jumper pack in the morning?

I much prefer the screw/bolt in type rack so you dont have people messing with them and the cleaner look, unfortunately the highest load rating the perrycraft ones have is 180lbs which would only be the weight of the bed itself.. However I hope thats just a moving weight and not static. Has anyone used this bed thingy with a screw in type rack?

First page of my thread shows it folded up. Air conditioner is powered by AC, it takes too much power to use with batteries or DC unless you wanted to leave your engine running the entire time you were using it.

Next year I plan on taking the xB camper out to the west coast. I'm bringing along the wife on this trip so I'm working on making the "lower level" inside the xB available for sleeping. I have magnetic screens for the windows and a DC inflatable twin air mattress. Now the challenge will be to find enough room for all our gear. Really wish I could use a hitch mounted cargo box but none are approved for class I hitches. I know there's adapters for 2" to 1.5" hitches but if the thing were to come off while we're traveling down the highway I could see major accidents/law suits so I'll have to stuff everything I can in the tent and car.

What BTU does that dog heater/cooler put out? I've got a custom fabbed 2 inch reciever on the back of my xb so far works great for bikes.

Went camping with my son last weekend at Mohican State Park, the most popular state park in Ohio. Finally tried out the awning that I bought with the RTT because of a chance of rain. Directions were translated from Italian and basically worthless but I eventually figured it out. Got lots of questions and looks from other campers, one even took photos because his son has an RS3 as well. This was the first time I used my wife's RS3 with the RTT because it has a hitch for our bike rack.
