Default Can dealers bump the price higher on a new xB?

I am looking for an xB... most of the local dealers have them priced the same except for one... (which has a couple on the lot). Their website is saying the base 2006 5speed xB's are priced at $15,245.00

Does this seem high to anyone else? Considering I have been seeing them them elsewhere in the metro area priced starting at $14,395.00

I thought they couldn't bump up the price?!?!?

Depends on the dealer. Than may be adding on their "dealer fee" or whatever it is they have. Could also be if that dealer is including already installed accessories or mods (leather seats?) Kind of like a processing or paperwork fee. If you see it cheaper elsewhere, go elsewhere.

You are correct. Two options:

1) Don't buy from them, AKA the easy route.

2) Price your vehicle on scion.com, print out the spec sheet, take it to that dealer and see what they say about that price. If theirs is higher, call Scion at 1-866-70-SCION and tell on them. Keep in mind there will be a destination charge on there, but it should just be a couple hundred dollars. They may have included that in the $15,245 price. Also, watch out for accessories they automatically throw in there. You don't have to take them.

Option one is easier, but option two may help out other future Scion owners. Good luck.

As long as they are selling it to everyone at the same price than they can sell xB's for whatever they want to. If they are selling it for more then MSRP they are stupid though, as they will have a very bad reputation. My guess is that the one that you saw online has a few options on it.

According to their website, that is the MSRP base price!

I found one across town for $14,395.00 (final price)

We are heading out to see it right after work tonight.

They also have a Toyota shipping fee of $595 and fuel destination fee that verys depending on where it came from. So good luck getting one at just MSRP. Cause those 2 fee's are all included in Scion's Pure Pricing.

there is a dealership here selling them for 16k
15,218 is the lowest I have seen but if I can get one for 14k near by I will snag one they probably did not add dealership/proc fees which is good.

I know its not exactly close but talk Mike Williams at Rountree Scion. They dont have that dealer fee. Saved me over $600. He might be able to work something out about getting it sent to you. www.rountreescion.com These guys where a real class act and would recommend them to anyone.

You are wrong about option 2! The dealership does not have to sell the xB at the price that scion.com shows. They do however have to sell it at the price that their dealerships website has it priced at. The price on Scion.com is the MSRP and the dealerships are allowed to sell the cars at whatever they want to. A smart dealership will sell it at MSRP as there is no reason to discount them when there arn't enough to go around and there is no reason to mark them up since they will just get a bad reputation.
