it would be costly...... They have to drop the old tranny, 300, buy a new one, 1200?, put the new one in 300, replace linkage..... it adds up....

Yo Dave, chill bro. I don't think I have seen anyone that has done that yet. Best bet, call your dealer monday morning. I would say though you may want figure that an ecu change may be involved amongst other electrical items.

You'd be better off buying the xB with the trans you want. Dealer rates will kill you.

newbie to forum yes... but to cars...no...

I have completed many tranny changes myself in foiegn and domestics. If the xB was a rear wheel drive you would be lookin at around 1800, fwd however involes alot more work so would be in 2k to 3k range.

this is really an ___ backards way of doing things. you could have gotten a auto xb for like 600-800 more i forget b/c i don't drive autos. however if you bought it used you will still end up paying more for the tranny change than if you would have bought the xb and auto option new. stick with the auto its not gonna give you enough xtra power to be worth the trouble. you could do the blitz s.c. for a few hundred more and receive real h.p. gains. just my 2 cents bro.

why didn't you get the tranny you wanted? Was there a credit problem or just tired of what you got? I wish it was easier to swap them out, but you also have to take in consideration the speed sensors and the ECU. Sometimes they are different

It's not that much more power. Just stick with what you've got.

probably should just swap all your stuff out back to stock and ask them to trade it in for a manual... you will lose money, but will save you the headache of knowing whether or not it will work properly and the cost of the tranny swap. after you get the new one just put all your stuff back on. simple fix for it.
