cruise control lever loose?
my xb is an '06 and it came with cruise control. well the little lever that has the buttons to control the cruise settings is very very wiggly and i can move it all around. ive tried turning it clockwise and counterclockwise to see if it will tighten or loosen but it just turns back to how it was when i let it go. i really want to make that thing hold in there nice and firm because the way it is now is pretty cheap looking. thank you for your help
huh thats weird. the small lever is identical to my friends 2001 toyota corolla, only difference being in the corolla you manually move the lever up and down to accelerate/coast and on the one in my xb there are buttons on top and bottom instead you push. so the one in my xb that looks exactly like the one in the corolla has nothing to do with toyota/scion?

the unit that is installed on the xB/xA's are normaly rostra. most toyota dealerships offer it, but it is indeed aftermarket, and it is not a factory option.
basically to tighten it, remove the bottom part of the clamshell of the steering wheel by loosening 3 screws
and then open it up.
inside you'll find a 14mm nut that you tighten down for the cruise control lever. that's all there is to it... and oh yeah.. don't overtighten it.
should be about 22-24 in. lbs if you seriously want specs... lol

If in doubt, look at http://www.scion.com If it's not listed there, it's an option your dealer provides and not from Scion.

It is a Scion option in the south east region. Now it is listed in the under hood pkg. punch in a zip from that region and check for yourself if you don't believe me.
When I got mine back in 04' it was a Scion option all by it self. My car was bought in AL.

well.. the build your car section with regards to local areas does include dealer options when building the vehicle...
though yes, on the normal scion website when you're just browsing the site itself looking at the vehicles themselves.. it'll list the factory options/accessories as mentioned..
just wanted to make sure people knew that when "building your scion", and entering the zip code.... it will list dealership options as well... and of course it'll be on the window sticker...
a true scion accessory is completely different from a dealership accessory.. and in your case... dealerships all over your region...
but to answer the question at hand.. it's a 14mm nut you have to tighten, which is located on the inside.

yea.. you guys in the SET region have some really screwy things...
i remember the so-called "special edition" tCs that you guys had..... seriously.... those were a laughing stock...
and the whole issues about the alarm systems they got from the dealership that were marked as "scion security".. but indeed... WASN'T.... eyah...

That's funny about the cruise control being a Scion option...it wasn't an option when I got mine a year ago...went to Ziebart for the cruise and yes the stem was loose too...took it back and they tightened it up for me, no problems since

I was happy when I got mine from Alabama and WAS able to get my cruise as an option from Scion. I realize it was port installed but atleast I got it and it's covered under the SCION warranty. It's cool how the Scion website provides different areas to have different options depending on your zipcode. Never seen this sort of thing before.

it's because like i mentioned...
the dealership options are on the website while building your vehicle. which is why you input your zip code.
it's still a Rostra unit, which is aftermarket, whether or not you want to say it's an option from scion....
but it's an option from your scion DEALERSHIP.
no problem!

Here's a pic of the Rostra stalk, you can see the nut on the end that needs to be tightened...
